Since we are getting a costume that shows Miriam before the crystals started growing on her, we should at least get a costume that shows us what would happen/what she would look like if they completely took over.

I kind of hope that instead of health dropping to 0 killing Miriam it instead shows her rage out and transform into something wicked looking. Maybe after beating the game that corrupted look is something you can choose to look like.

Well, either this old piece of concept-art is an example of something like that (after the crystal curse significantly spreads), or it'll just be another Spell she can cast.

theres another bit of concept art that could become a headshot of that cursed cross, so it may be a state rather than an attack

If this were a "costume", maybe it would still affect her stats.

I kind of hope that instead of health dropping to 0 killing Miriam it instead shows her rage out and transform into something wicked looking. Maybe after beating the game that corrupted look is something you can choose to look like. I strongly agree with these. It was always interesting to me how many, and I think myself at one point but I can't remember, thought the tiara on Miriam's head looked like a set of horns. In full curse mode it would be cool if they turned into actual horns. I feel not a lot of games/media let female characters get "wicked" so to speak - especially protagonists. A recent game called Nights of Azure featured a female main character who was part demon and could transform into demon forms. An example: I'm not saying Bloodstained should follow that exact route, but I do think it would be infinitely more interesting if we had like a curse-related transformation and when I say transformation, I mean transformation and not just a color swap or a darker aura or whatever. Something further beyond what that concept art sample showed off in Astaroth 's post. I bring up the above example from NoA to highlight that. Indeed it may be a state, as I think the description states that Miriam's magic power spikes to a dangerous level. If this were a "costume", maybe it would still affect her stats. Honestly, gives me the vibe of dark metamorphosis. Wonder if it's a spell that has a similar idea to it. That hardly seems like a beneficial state to be in. More like a "berserker" mode than just a "power up" mode. Indeed it may be a state, as I think the description states that Miriam's magic power spikes to a dangerous level. If this were a "costume", maybe it would still affect her stats. Yes, that exactly. It would be like that magic costume from Shantae: Risky's Revenge I've always liked what I've seen of the Shantae series (so much that I even gave to the 1/2 Genie Hero Kickstarter) but it wasn't until the most recent game was on sale in that recent Humble Bundle that I was able to play a game in that series. I'm pretty much a big Shantae fan now (the writing in that game was especially good). Because of that, and knowing that Inticreates has worked on the series in the past and is helping with the upcoming game, I'm 100% on the "Shantae costume for Miriam" train. I know I kind of meekly suggested it before (in a "that might be kind of cool" way) but now I'm gung-ho for it. I would choose Shantae's classic red outfit however, not the Desert Princess outfit (which is what that Magic Mode seems to be based on). As an aside, I'm morbidly curious to which posts in here is Mana , if she's read the thread, is nodding in agreement to, shaking her head at or just laughing it up

crocodile I actually did think a while back that Miriam's fully-cursed state might be "non-standard game over" kind of thing, similarly to what XombieMike said about what he thinks should happen upon Miriam's HP reaching 0. As for the alternative of the cursed "costume" affecting her stats, I can easily see some penalties to her stats in addition to bonuses for others. (EDIT): Also, nice. I've enjoyed playing Nights of Azure too!

I dont mind any of the recent costume suggestions but I do hate making cosmetic changes affect stats instead of keeping them seperate. Sometimes I wanna look a certain way without having my spec be stuck that way yknow.
I wanna try nights of azure but money... 2016 is getting mor3 games I wanna try than like 2012 to 2015 combined sheesh.

I know a lot of people like the "traditional" female video game armor (I do to once in awhile) but I think some awesome realistic female armor would be cool too... maybe something elegant and powerful.

I like both fantasy and real armour too. But i prefer an unrealistic amount of real armor. Full plate from head to toe (helm missing is ok I guess... Neck to toe?). No wussy leather or mesh in between.

Unless I'm grossly underestimating the amount of work it takes to produce such content, I figure this is an area where its very easy to please pretty much everybody (or everyone who is rational ). It's content that doesn't even, for the most part, have to launch with the game!

I would love to try to find all the different combinations.

I think you guys are on to something with the Shantae suggestion. I personally think it would be cool if you had these two alternate versions of Miriam. 1. Succubus/Stained-glass covered fleshBen Judd mentioned the preliminary designs for Miriam were more succubus-like, so it could be based on these. Would have attributes such as... - A quicker dash
- Increased strength for magic attacks
- Decreased DEF
- Decreased strength for physical attacks
2. Valkyrie/Full-body armorA full body armor that nonetheless looks sleek, like an armored angel, if you will. Would have attributes such as... - A slower back-dash
- Decreased strength for magic attacks
- Increased DEF
- Increased strength for physical attacks
Unfortunately, this type of suggestion has probably very little chance of making it into the game, as it requires additional assets and play balancing, but it never hurts to offer it!

Personally, I'm okay with any costume as long as its "tasteful." I've read most of this thread and I love most of suggestions here. All the armors that people have shown are pretty good looking. My personal favorites are the Cat Girl, the Bride, the Bunny Girl, and most of the armors.

I have no idea if they would tie costumes to stats but you did remind me of Circle of the Moon and its Class system (Fighter, Magician, Shooter, Thief). As opposed (or in addition?) to using cheat codes, you could have different costumes change you into different classes. Like a witch's outfit for a Mage, an archer's outfit for a shooter (though I don't think this game really has sub-weapons), a thief's outfit for Thief mode, etc. It feels like it should be something pretty straight-forward to do if you just focus on base parameters and parameter growth (like those modes in Circle of the Moon did). This seems like an aggressively good idea and I hope that's something they have the time and resources to implement. Mana - is this something that could be done or is it economically/developmentally nonviable?

Yeah, I guess if you take the back-dash out of the equation it would be more straight-forward to implement.
I guess it would hinge on whether you could come up with a design capable of reusing the existing animation data or not.

I'm not a fan of linking costumes with stats since I don't want costumes or visuals I like to be combined with a gameplay style I don't enjoy, but Dareka's suggestions sound like good costumes on their own.
In the realm of potentially atmosphere-breaking costumes and accessories, I'd like to see a headpiece resembling Bane's mask from "The Dark Knight Rises". Some people out there think anything related Bane jokes and quoting got old and there's no point in doing it anymore. To them, I say "you hate fun." Plus, if designed right a similar mask could end up looking intimidating instead of goofy, especially around the mouth/jaw area.
