Ok so I want to give feedback regarding the Brazilian Portuguese localization. There are a LOT of things wrong and a lot of screenshots because of it, so I'm going to just post the image links instead of embed them. I'm going to divide this feedback in two parts: things that are objectively wrong (typos, missing whitespaces, wrong translations, etc) and things that are subjectively wrong when it comes to a game translation (we brazilian gamers are used to a whole number of gaming related english expressions that, when translated literally, doesn't make any sense and actually hurts the experience). So let's start.
1.3 Typos and overall problems:
imgur.com/xr9B3S4 : "pescotapa" is a regional expression and shouldn't be used here. Using something more generic like just "tapa" would be better. I had to google what that is to give you an idea.
Link to all galleries:
My thoughts: I'm almost sure that whoever was responsible to translate this game has never translated a game before, and consequently is not used to leaving alone some expressions. Technically speaking, all subjective points could be ignored because they're correct, but that isn't enough when working with a game localization. Honestly most of brazilian players are probably going to play in english anyway, but having a localization in our language is essential to atract newcomers. And this sad state is not exactly welcoming.
I really hope that this was helpful, and I'm looking forward for some patches!
Nice work there, congrats! I was just about to point out some of them, but you got there first lol. Now, being a translator myself I was very curious to play it in Portuguese when I found out it was translated (I remember reading somewhere the game wouldn't have translations, but here we are). Overall I found it good, it doesn't have any major negative impacts on the user experience, but of course it may vary. I also got confused by some of the translations, especially the "O" for "G" in gold, always made me think it was a 0 and I had more money than I thought. I think they could've used a gold coin icon instead with a G (or a gold icon without any letters on it), so much more easier to understand what it represents. On a side note, I had a good laugh with "pescotapa", I haven't heard it in a long while and it also got me wondering how much of the audience would understand it. First dialogueTranslation missing imgur.com/1HNXS0REN "But I am the only one who can. The shard experiments prepared me for combat. Let them amount to something." PT-BR "Mas sou a única que pode. As experiências com fragmentos me prepararam para o combate. Que eles seu valor então." There's a word missing from the translation here, probably "mostrem" between "eles" and "seu". "Que eles mostrem seu valor então". Eventually imgur.com/hZPo0NNEN "The strength you gain from it is undeniable, but eventually the crystal will devour you." PT-BR "A força que você ganha com isso é inegável, mas eventualmente… o cristal irá devorá-la." "Eventualmente" here has a different meaning from "eventually" in English. They're false friends. In Portuguese it expresses a possibility, a hypothesis. In English it has the sense of "in the end" or a consequence. Some options to translate the sentence would be: "A força que você ganha com isso é inegável, mas um dia… o cristal irá devorá-la." "A força que você ganha com isso é inegável, mas consequentemente… o cristal irá devorá-la." "A força que você ganha com isso é inegável, mas no fim das contas… o cristal irá devorá-la." Dialogue from good ending imgur.com/rZkKOMqEN "You're very welcome. Come on, let's go home." PT-BR "E eu vou fazer o que puder para não decepcionar você. Ande, vamos para casa." First sentence seems a bit over translated for me. A simple "De nada" (you're welcome) or "Não tem por que agradecer" (don't mention it/no problem) would be enough. Menuimgur.com/5HfOvdXEN "Favorite" PT-BR "Favorito". Although this is not major, I think it should be "Favoritar", given all the other commands are verbs (Usar, Ordenar, Voltar) instead of nouns Aello Item Drop
"Monster Bird Tear" Another item which the translation is overflowing. "Lágrima de Pássaro Monstruoso" is too long. "Lágrima de Ave Monstruosa" may be an option. About the quotes:
I'm not bothered by "pescotapa", but I understand if it's changed to "tapa". Regarding "Eventually", I wouldn't use "A força que você ganha com isso é inegável, mas consequentemente… o cristal irá devorá-la.", it sounds weird. The other two are fine.
Now onto some more missing lines/words from dialogues and mistranslations. I'm in the beggining, but I'll post some here just to show that they need to be revised and updated. I intend to finish the game before making another post so as not to pollute this thread.
It is missing the word "Tudo" > "Tudo que sei...". EN: "All I know is that the spell that stopped time for you was advanced, arcane...".
"visto" incorrectly written in the singular form, instead of plural ("vistos"). Correct would be: "Itens equipáveis podem ser vistos [...]".
Missing a part from original dialogue "Vou limpar o convés com eles." from EN "I'll wipe the deck with them."
"Nonsense" is mistranslated as "despropósito" (I don't even know what this word means). EN: "This is nonsense." should be translated to one of the following: "Isso é besteira."/"Isso é um absurdo."/"Isso é bobagem." or something else.
Missing an "r" in "Preparar". It is correct on the top left of the screen.
In this one, it is missing the word "Miriam" before the second part of the dialogue. O.D. asks Miriam her name, and she responds him in this sentence. I don't have the english text to type here for this one and the next. Also, Miriam calls him OD instead of O.D. on this dialogue. I don't know if it's intended to be like that and it doesn't bother me, just saying this cause might be a mistake as well.
"Because" is mistranslated to "Por que", while the correct translation is "Porque". Yes, this is an actual other word that exists and have a totally diffent meaning. Por que = Why and Porque = Because.
I share hiratafabio's opinion that common enemy and weapon names should be translated. Special enemy and weapon names inspired by foreign folklore or that don't have a direct portuguese translation should be kept in english IMO. Same for the bosses.
Thank you both for the feedback. I hope we can help make this game better. I also am grateful for the PT-BR translation, we do not always get one and it is awesome that you cared. It makes a big difference, especially in such an amazing game.

Easy now, I wouldn't say Spanish from Spain is 'weird' or anything like that, my friend. Language is language, and they're all good in their own ways. But I agree with you, in practical terms it might be best to have the Spanish translation done in the Latin American dialects since so many people live in that region, so it makes sense to translate for the folks who'll be buying the most copies In any case, though, even the Latin American spanish localization needs work, so keep paying attention to the script and highlighting mistakes, everyone, all this is really helpful! The economy of Latin American countries is quite precarious and there is a lot of piracy in video games for that reason. I doubt that in those countries the game has more sales than in Spain. The Spanish market is more relevant, that's why 99% of the games are translated into Spanish from Spain and not Latin America. Oh I don't think so. Info by Newzoo, a videogame market analyst.2018 Spain revenues: $2 Billion2018 Spanish-speaking Latin America revenues: $3.5 BillionNot only that, but in 2017 LatAm revenues: $3.1 Billion, that means a $400 Million increase in just a year. We, Spain, only grow as $100 Million per year (2016 total revenues were $1.8B, 2017 $1.9B and 2018 $2.0B). It's pretty safe to say that by the end of the year they will be nearly doubling the revenue we produce. You are picking the wrong battles, pal. Stop polluting this thread with your childish behavior and just enjoy the game.

So Hello Everyone. Spanish Post 1: Monsters' names: The objective of this post is to provide the most appropiated names for all enemies into Latinamerican or Iberian Spanish. There are names that doesn't match into spanish - looks like literal translation -. I'll check also the japanese name of the monster to determine if it must be kept in the original form. As translator, I'd like to offer this perspective: Translated names with asterisk (*), in blue and in bold are suggested to change. I did all the table even if the name is repeated in the localization, but I offer a better approach.
Number | Original English
| Suggested Spanish Translation
| 1
| Morte | Morte
| 2
| Seama | *Seama
| 3
| Cannon Morte - Suggested to change into "Morte Cannon" | *Cañón Morte
| 4
| Aello | *Aelo OR *Nicótoe - Although in the game is written in japanes as アエロー : AeRo, also means "arrow" . Due that it is the name of one of the Harpy sisters, it is up to keep either Aelo or Nícotoe.
| 5
| Ghost | Fantasma
| 6
| Dullahammer | *Dulamartillo
| 7
| Giant Rat | Rata Gigante
| 8
| Bone Morte - Suggested to change into "Morte Bone" | *Morte Lanzahuesos
| 9
| Bat | Murciélago
| 10
| Gieremund | Gieremund
| 11
| Blood Grinder Knight | *Armadura Trituradora - Originally "Outsider Knight" in the japanese version of the game. From now on, all outsider armors will be named "Armadura" with the characteristic weapon. "Outsider" is more like "alien", "stranger" or even "visitor". Simply IT DOESN'T FIT!
| 12
| Sabnock | Sabnock
| 13 | Moco Weed | *Hiedra Carnívora - "Moco Plant" sounds odd, worse in spanish.
| 14 | Toad | Sapo
| 15
| Plume Parma | *Cerdo Volador - Quite obvious.
| 16
| Barbatos | *Bárbatos - Notice the tilde in the first "á"
| 17
| Carabosse | Carabosse - A fairy that belongs to the french culture, so it must be kept as it is, and there is not a spanish equivalent.
| 18
| Simio | Simio
| 19
| Zagan | Zagan
| 20
| Poltergeist | Poltergeist
| 21
| Ordog | *Sabueso Pútrido - This spanish form is more attractive.
| 22
| Gargoyle | Gárgola
| 23
| Killer Barber | Barbero Asesino
| 24
| Demon | Demonio
| 25
| Buer | Buer
| 26
| Nyabon | *Miaubon - にゃ: nya is the japanese form for cats to meow, in spanish is "Miau". A close approach to spanish is "Miaubon".
| 27
| Scyte Mite | Ácaro de la Guadaña
| 28
| Dullahamer Head | *Cabeza del Dulamartillo
| 29
| Buer Armor | Armadura Buer

| Rul'sha | Rul'sha
| 35
| Decarabia | Decarabia
| 36
| Shovel Armor | *Armadura Pala
| 37
| Malediction | *Cabeza Maldita - "Maledicencia" is quite odd in spanish, and it means also "Curse". A compound noun fixes the problem.
| 38
| Celaeno | Celeno
| 39
| Shield Outsider | *Armadura Escudo
| 40
| Puppy | Cachorro
| 41
| Lili | *Lilim - It comes from the Japanese name of the monster, リリム or Lilimu . You killed the "m", suggested to bring it back.
| 42
| Assassin | Asesino
| 43
| Dragon | Dragón
| 44
| Kunekune | Kunekune
| 45
| Poison Toad | Sapo Venenoso
| 46
| Sidhe | Sidhe
| 47

| 49
| Light Elemental | Elemental de Luz
| 50
| Ocypete | Ocípete
| 51
| Cyhyraeth | Cyhyraeth - Kahyrice - カヒライス from the source I found. Nothing to do with the English name. Better the proper welsh name
| 52
| Chair Mimic | *Imitador de Silla
| 53
| Leraje | Leraje
| 54
| Bloodbringer | *Espada Sangrienta - Fits better the spanish name.
| 55
| Lance Armor | *Armadura Lanza
| 56
| Tamako-Death | *Tamako Mortal - Yes, it is Tamako * Death, but in spanish sounds better "Mortal" than "Muerte". So here it is. "Letal" is quite different.

| 58
| Gamigin | Gamigin
| 59
| Titania | Titania
| 60

| 66
| Seeker | Ojo Buscador - Just added a deeper description to get a better name to this monster
| 67
| Archdemon | Archidemonio
| 68
| Amy | Ami - アミー. Better to keep that name as it is, because it is not a woman so far, and the monster description doesn't match with the english name.
| 69
| Allocer | Alocer
| 70
| Vul'sha | Vul'sha
| 71

| 79
| Hellhound
| Sabueso Infernal
| 80
| Zepar
| Zepar
| 81
| Deathtrap
| Trampa Mortal
| 82

| Chariot Buer

| 95
| Silver Wolfman
| *Licántropo Plateado - "Argénteo" is odd in spanish. Better with this adjective.
| 96

| 97
| Harrier
| Perseguidor

| Elemental de Hielo
| 99
| Tracer
| *Ojo Rastreador
| 100
| Gusion Cannon
| *Cañón Gusión

| *Armadura Gran Hacha
| 102
| Demon Lord
| *Señor de los Demonios - This name is quite spooky, rather than "Demonio Supremo".
| 103

| 104
| Eight Bit Ghost
| *Fantasma de 8 bits
| 105
| Eight Bit Skull
| *Craneo de 8 bits - "Calavera" implies all the bones of the human body. "Craneo" is better for this.
| 106
| Eight Bit Overlord
| *Señor Demonio de 8 bits - "Caudillo" is more used in politics. Better to use "Señor Demonio".
| 107
| Master Carpenter
| Carpintero Maestro
| 108
| Revenant
| Resucitado
| 109

| Vepar
| 111
| Zangetsu
| Zangetsu
| 112
| Craftwork
| *Vitral Infernal - The english name translates "Artesanía", so it is nice to have a spooky name with the adjective "infernal". "Vitralus" is bad written too, is "Vitraluz". I'd keep with "Vitral Infernal"
| 113
| Andrealphus
| Andrealphus
| 114
| Valac
| Valac
| 115
| Glutton Train
| *Locomotora del Averno - "Glutton" Doesn't fit at all, and train translates "train". I suggest to use "locomotora" due that is the head of the train and obviously, is the boss.
| 116
| Bathin
| Bathin
| 117
| Gebel
| Gebel
| 118
| Bloodless
| *Duquesa Sangrienta - It is quite evident that this character is based on duchess Bathory. It is a better name for this monster. "La Exangüe" is not properly translated... it is similar into spanish like "anemic", but "exangüe" is not common. Hence, a total revamp of the name suits this monster.
| 119
| Alfred
| Alfred
| 120
| Doppelganger
| *Doppelgänger - Please note the "ä" that must be written
| 121
| Orobas
| Orobas
| 122
| Zangetsu
| Zangetsu
| 123
| Valefar
| *Valefor - This name is valid too. Just to add a masculine property to the monster
| 124
| Gremory
| Gremory - No spanish approach. I thought "Gremoria" could fit, but it doesn't exist.
| 125
| Dominique
| Dominique
| 126
| Bael
| Bael
| 127
| Olrok Dracule
| Olrok Draculea - We can get an agreement to not to use the very obvious name of Dracula, but looking the original name, is Draculea, so here it is.
|
Here is my work. Hope you enjoy it. I'm open to positive feedback. Thanks!

I don't speak Spanish, but a couple remark here that might explain some choices: Regarding #4: "Aello" is the name of one of the Harpies sisters in the greek mythology, with Celaeno (#38) and Ocypete (#50), so that's probably the right spelling. #17: there's a "Fée Carabosse" in french folklore so maybe that's what they went with ? (Disney renamed her Malefiicent when they made the Sleeping Beauty film.) Thanks for this interesting approach. Looking at internets, there are the spanish equivalent for those names, so I'll take them to replace those ones. Regarding Carabosse, due that it belongs to the french culture, it must be kept as it is because there is no spanish approach to that name.
You're welcome. One more I just saw, concerning # 46, Sidhe: (Also spelled Sith) that's the name of the fairy/elven folks in the gaelic folklore. Looking at the original japanese name I think they went with daoine sídhe, the [fairy/elven] people of the mounds. Now in this context I suspect the "Daine" you're suggesting is actually an adjective. See: Banshee or bean sídhe (lit., woman of the Sídhe); Leanan Sídhe; Cù Sith (lit., dog of the Sídhe), Cat Sith; etc. Question now, concerning the French localization: I haven't seen straight up translation errors as much as grammatical and/or layout errors (so far !), the two most common being the space after an apostrophe -there shouldn't be one- and the missing space between words. There's far, far too much of thoses to posts them all here, but here's a few exemple: imgur.com/HPZAuYQThere shoudn't be an espace after the apostrophe in "d'entaille"; d'estoc" and "d'obsucrité" imgur.com/FgcWcyUOh god, where to start ? - There should be a space after the comma at "homonucule", and the J should not be in uppercase
- There should be a space between "étrange" and "de"
- There should be a space after the dot at "sujet"
- There should be a space after the comma at "enfin"
- There should be a space between "observer" and "avec"
- There should be a space after the dot at "multiplier"
- There should be a space between "propage" and "sur"
- There should be a space after the dot at "choisi"
- There should be a space after the comma at "liquide"
- There should be a space after the comma at "assez"
- There should be a space between "pour" and "découvrir"
- And an argument could be made for "une étrange formation de cristal blanc" instead of "une formation étrange de cristal blanc": the former would flow better, imo
... and that's just two screenshots. I've got 18 more waiting from just a couple of minutes in the game's diary. I agree with holycookie that access to the game's text, in raw form, would be far more efficient than having to screenshot basically every other line of dialogue for this kind of small issues. A couple of other things while I'm at it: There should be a space between the amount and the currency when picking up money. (i.e. "50 Or" ou "100 Or" instead of the current "50Or") Regarding monsters names (at least the monsters I've encountered so far) : sometimes you translate the "Morte" in "Spectre", sometimes you don't: (ENG -> FR) #1: Morte -> Spectre #3 Cannon Morte -> Morte canon #8 Bone Morte -> Bone Morte #32 Carriage Morte -> Spectre-calèche #47 Bomber Morte -> Spectre à bombe You've translated "Mimic" as "Imitation" (monster #48; and "Chair Mimic" as "Imitation de chaise"; #52) but while not wrong, I wonder if it's really the right choice ? In this context, I find the frenchified "Mimique" (and "Mimique Chaise" for #52) more accurate; that's what both D&D and the Dark Souls games went with.
You've translated most "Outsider" as "Relique", for ... some reason. I suggest taking a cue from adrianort 's suggestions and streamlining their names:
(ENG -> Current FR -> Suggested FR) #11: Blood Grinder Knight (Originally "Outsider Knight" in the japanese version of the game.) -> Chevalier Broyeur -> Chevalier Broyeur #39: Shield Outsider -> Relique à bouclier -> Chevalier à bouclier #60: Axe Outsider -> Relique à hache -> Chevalier à hache
And that's enough for now.

All issues in Switch version 1. [Japanese] Language setting: Japanese; When you enter the game after it crushed, the dialogue text becomes English. You have to change to other language, then back to Japanese to fix it. 2. [Traditional Chinese] There are too many issues in Traditional Chinese. I can't help but wonder if the translation team used only Google Translate and did not test it at all. 2.1 Missing text 2.2 Naming for monster does not match 2.3 Bad quality

adrianort Really like the job u done here, just have some feedback, every outsider i think should be "viajero, viajero con" (i mean they are dead bodies/souls i guess(?) some descriptions say they are demons or skeletons lol) but they were "viajeros" before ending this way, except the blood grinder, maybe should be "Caballero triturador" Edit: Oh and "Calavera" its only for the Head, the entire body could be "esqueleto"

These are the reasons:
a. There are several mistakes about the use of the word "outsider". In fact, monsters' descriptions are not congruent. Some are knights, while others are just armors. To unify all outsiders in a whole, I preferred to use "armadura", because most of their descriptions define them as armor, not as a knight.
b. "Calavera" is a quite imprecise word. That's why I decided to "cráneo", because it defines perfectly that part of the body and doesn't lead to odd interpretations. If you see the 8 bit stage, there is no "esqueleto" but "cráneo".
Indeed, thanks for your feedback.

Simplified Chinese translation is even worse than Traditional Chinese. Shards, Weapons, Characters dialogues have so many inaccurate or misleading translations.

It is an interesting work! Can some admin organize main localization post in a kind of subtopics or subforum according to the language?

Sorry for using chinese, I couldn't use Japanese or English so good.
And, WE ARE THE ONE WHO REALLY NEED LOCALIZATION.
We really need a better Chinese localization.

When selecting language, we can select "Simplified Chinese", but in the Switch version of the game it is actually very badly translated Traditional Chinese. I have friends who are playing the game on Steam using PC, and it seems that the translation on PC version is much better than the Switch version. There are a lot of texts that are missing the meanings, and a lot of weapons, shards have inaccurate translations. For example, shard "welcome company" should be translated as "欢迎伙伴" instead of "欢迎公司", and all familiar shards should be translated as "使魔" instead of "熟悉". Maybe directly using the Steam version Simplified Chinese can fix most of the issues, but I am sure there are much room for improvement.

I noticed after playing boss rush mode on the switch the gamepad continues to rumple nonstop. With that animations seem to flicker light everywhere. This is the North American copy. Bug? imgur.com/gallery/bOX8kXR

Ahahaha!! That "歡迎公司" translation is so funny! XD
Even though I'm not a native Chinese speaker, I did study enough to see that this was a direct translation, lol. Thank you for your hard work pinpointing and fixing a lot of these bad translations, plko!

Hello 505 games team:
I'm doing a second walkthrough in order to find DIALOG translation errors that may be even done from the English version of the game. Although I am doing that in Spanish, I probably consider to do it in English too. Even though, I am doing it in Spanish.
I've taken LOTS of screenshots with errors and translation mistakes to fix properly.
Thanks.

Any feedback on the Italian localization yet? I'm Italian myself, but I set my PS4 on English and play in that language by default. But I guess I might switch to Italian for my second playthorugh just to see how it is...
