I think his name is Zangetsu. Does anyone have any tips on which weapons and shards I should use? I am playing on Normal Difficulty. Always attack his back. His front is dangerous. Just keep jumping behind him. |

I was surprised when I didn't beat him the second time. At the third time I stopped messing around and actually tried to avoid his attacks. He just has a lot more HP than I expected. I'm not the leik uber pro, but I've never had this much trouble with a boss in any metroidvania Castlvania except for maybe a couple of the bosses of the game. have you tried the hidden bosses? those are the real shit man, i can get over most bosses by spamming skills, but not those hidden ones. Can't wait lol |

How many HP does this boss have? Also, is the Spiral Sword a dropped item or do you must craft it? not sure, maybe 500 HP give or take? the sword is a drop item from an enemy called Blood Grinder Knight located at above the blood pool room, you may find him else where but this location is the nearest to save room, and the sword's drop rate is 2%, so good luck. |

If you haven't found it, there's an 8-bit coin item hidden behind a wall in the village. It's a hidden room behind the save room, you have to get there from the other side, in that area where you fall through the floor. The item lets you craft a bunch of stuff you normally can't |

I was just checking my game. I can't find any weapons with darkness damage. I'm also not sure how elemental attributes affect shard abilities. There's no clear indication if, flame cannon for instance, does fire damage. And the only pre-Zangetsu enemies that are strong against darkness that I have found are Bone Morte, Cannon Morte, and Blood Grinder Knight. I don't have all their drops yet, so there may be some dark-attribute item from one of those enemies that could help. Maybe even a crafting item or something.

Ooops. I was looking at the resistance panel when I was browsing weapons. There are, in fact, darkness-attributed weapons available through crafting. Blood Grinder's probably your best bet since it has good damage, but it's a great-sword, so it's slower. It's probably dropped by the Blood Grinder Knight as well.

I can't recall where it's found in game, aside from the item shop for 4k gold, but you can give Johannes an 8-bit coin to get an elemental weapon of your choice. |

I think you can out-range him with the spear and more importantly a rapier. The same goes for Katana in real life.

Somehow I leveled from 13 to 15 and now do LESS damage than I did before with all weapons.

I am very disappointed with the "new" zangetsu and bloodless. Zangetsu and bloodless difficulty in demo is similar to traditional castleavania. At the current state, it seems that iga has lost his way and pandered to the "dark soul" player. Harder game doesn't mean better game, Iga should not try to make rotn into another "dark soul" clone
