Hey all. In case you haven't heard, there's been another leak concerning yet another forth-coming Castlevania release. It was rated PG by the Australian Classification Board under the name of this thread's title.
At this point we can only speculate as to what it is, so here's to hoping it's not just another DXC port. I'm hoping for the Advance/DS games.
I'll post links when I can. I'm on my Vita at work right now cuz I'm a nerd.

Interesting, because there was rumored to be a new Castlevania game that would follow a collection according to last summer's rumor mill that predicted a ton of stuff accurately about Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. The Rondo/Symphony collection threw that story off a bit, but this perhaps sort of points things back on track. Then again... Regarding the collection, Game Rant ran a story about this: gamerant.com/castlevania-collection-leaked-by-ratings-board/ They seem to hint it might be a Lords of Shadow collection... EDIT: It's been said in another way by purifyweirdshard now, but I realize in retrospect that this logic by Game Rant was flawed, because their comments on imagery could easily connect to Super Castlevania IV's Medusa or SotN's Scylla. Plus, there already was a Lords of Shadow collection released previously.

All of the Lords of Shadow games are rated M, so probably not. Pretty obvious detail they missed there.

I'm most puzzled by the "anniversary" part. Assuming it's out this year, there are no obvious Castlevania anniversaries to pay tribute to. The only ones I can think of are The Adventure, which came out in 1989: possibly a release of the original and the wii remake; Bloodlines, from 1994 (25 years): a collection of that game plus its sort-of sequel PoR?; and, least likely, Demon Castle Wars: the game that was never made, that was set in 1999.

Actually, Dracula's Curse came out in 1989, so that's a strong candidate. Could be an NES collection.

I'd love to see the three DS games. Lament of Innocence and Curse of Darkness would be my second choice. I don't have much hope it'll include any of those games though.

My biggest wish is to have Symphony on Switch, and I would also really be happy if it was Symphony+Rondo. If it is only CV 1-4, I would be disappointed. I don`t think it will be GBA and DS games, even though I would also love to have them on Switch! My favorite games are Aria and Ecclesia.

OverlordOne of the problems with including the DS games in any collection is the touch screen mechanics of each of em.

1-4 are of course the most likely and probably least interesting to most of the core fans haha. What they really/actually need to do for preservation's sake is release Bloodlines and ReBirth.
The "anniversary" part of it is silly, too, yeah - what I think is likely here with only a small bit of sarcasm is that it may have taken Konami 3 years to find/remember their catalog or put together anything.

GBA + NDS titles in one PC bundle? That would be awesome.
Edit: I can use a pen if needed, or mouse for some parts, or they could just patch so we do not need to. Not that hard..

Overlord One of the problems with including the DS games in any collection is the touch screen mechanics of each of em. I know. That's why I don't think we'll see a DS collection. I don't think it should be a big problem for them though. Dawn of Sorrow had more touch screen use than the other games, but even then, it would just be a matter of allowing the ice blocks to be destroyed by normal attacks once you've earned Balore's soul, and either making the magic seals automatic or just removing them from the game.

There's actually already a fan-patch to deal with the Seals from Dawn of Sorrow, so I'd imagine it's quite possible. Heck, you could make the argument Square-Enix did the same moving KH3D onto the PS3/PS4. And then of course there's Mirror of Fate HD being a thing.

Here are a couple of the links:
Seems like most gamers are hoping for the Advance/DS games, and it would be smart on Konami's part to compete with RotN and capitalize on the interest in IGAvanias surrounding its releaase. I don't think the touch-screen stuff would be a big deal, I think that by OOE those features were completely abandoned. But... Konami's gonna Konami, it's probably going to disappoint. Hope I'm wrong.

Julius Mode completely ignores the seals as it is, so it's possible with the programming already in the game too - I just wouldn't expect any extra work on Konami's end to have it happen heh. Knowing them, they'd go through with that but leave Yoko's tutorial in the game about it.
Having the portable Nintendo games on other/modern consoles would feel/perhaps look weird, but I'd get that, sure. I should dig up my post about what I want/expect from this sort of thing in another thread we had about this if I can find it (think it was with the Switch rumor stuff maybe?)

Is there any existing case of a game from the GBA or NDS era appearing on current gen consoles? Unless it was already a port of an older console like the SNES to begin with. It sounds incredibly unrealistic to hope in a GBA/NDS 'vania collection, but maybe it is indeed possible.

I'm pretty sure Aria of Sorrow had a virtual console release for wii U as a rom, and some special exclusive 3DS port that was only available to some people. Contra 4 came to mobile. That's all I can think of, so nothing close to what we're hoping for.

[bossfinish=1] {if true="buttonmash", if false="regainhealth"} [bossfinish=0] {if 0 is "3" ignoreseal=1} [buttonmash=1] {#dpad1, dpad2, dpad3, dpad 4, dpad 5 (Use D-pad for konami-code)} [regainhealth=1] {add "health" 25%} [regainhealth=0] {bossfinish=1}
There are simple ways to fix all that, ignore seal, use button-smash idea or whatever. It is possible. They just need 4 hours of their time to fix it.
Stuff above is humbug, not serious code.

Personally, the game I NEED the collection to have is Bloodlines. I've never owned it, so I've never gotten to play it extensively, and when I did get to play it, I only got to the last level. It's one of the few Castlevania games I haven't beaten. Even so, I thought it was an amazing entry.
So, I would take it whatever it is if it includes Bloodlines. But other than that...Castlevania 1-4 and Bloodlines would be a B+; throw in Dracula X and Rondo and we're at an A-; put in the original GB games and SotN and we're at an A. (Include things like ReBirth, Haunted Castle, and the Sharp computer entry that was released on PS1, and we're at A+). ...I know better than to ask for the N64 games, but needless to say that would be spectacular... I can understand the want for the portable Metroidvanias, but I'd like the older stuff first and foremost. It has the most replay value, in my opinion.
...I put this above in an edit to my earlier post, but I'll put it down here again: It's been said in another way by purifyweirdsoul now, but I realize in retrospect that the logic by Game Rant was flawed, because their comments on imagery could easily connect to Super Castlevania IV's Medusa or SotN's Scylla. Plus, there already was a Lords of Shadow collection released previously.

It could also just be a different version of the Requiem collection released not too long ago. I HOPE not but it's possible. Bloodlines would be an epic boon, reBirth, you can't even buy anymore, less you buy someones old Wii that it's on, Lament of Innocence and Curse of Darkness packaged together would be awesome too.

I just wanted to throw this out for fun: if the rumored all-new (Switch?) Castlevania game is coming after this, I'm guessing we'll hear some news at E3 2019. (Last year there was a "leak" around E3 that connected a collection release and a new game for Castlevania with a bunch of Smash Bros. announcements that came true.)
