I was waiting until the game had a proper release date timeline to say this (i don't really know why lol). I don't know if that is important to anyone, but i feel i grew as part of this community to the point some people here actually cares about what i say, my opinions and even my health (when i revealed i have depression, i got lots of warmt and nice messages). So, for some weird reason, i feel that i should reveal this, maybe as a interesting trivia. I'm actually not a backer. I didn't contribute to Bloodstained Kickstarter. When Kickstarter showed up, i was unemployed and i wasn't on a great situation overall in my private life. Bloodstained Kickstarter gave me something to follow and to look for, but i didn't had money to donate and that situation was long and arduous until recently, when i finally got a good, stable job. WIth my finances in a urgent need of "fixing" i couldn't be a late backer either and thus, when i was finally ok with my personal finances, the later backer ended. I played the demos because kind backers i met here gave me codes / legit ways to access them. I bought Curse of the Moon and i'm planning on buying Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night. I really like this community and i really like to discuss stuff about the game here. But, aside from that, one of the reasons why i keep trying to create new threads, share news and links, analyze stuff and such is because i feel i'm contributing a bit with the whole project, since i couldn't with money at the time. I felt amazed when the dev team actually used a thread i made, in the past, officially as feedback for 2016 Demo. Some of my threads actually show up when you search for Bloodstained on Google, and that alone made me try even harder to create threads that are interesting and spread good word about the game. I feel a bit sad that i wasn't able to be a backer back them, also because i remember the game itself having some exclusive stuff for Backers and i really wanted my version to have everything but, that's how life is i guess. Well, now you all know (why that is relevant, i don't know lol)

Well, with all of the threads you've contributed to this forum site (and you've contributed a lot; certainly more than I have), I'm certain that you deserve recognition for your efforts.
As for in-game exclusive content? I'd been hoping that at some point, that stuff can become available as DLC for everyone else. I'm sure it will.
I do hope your situation continues to improve. You must enjoy this game with the rest of your fellow soldiers in the Army of the Night.

That's fine, Pure Miriam--you've contributed so much to this community that you belong here just as much as any backer, including me--and I say this as someone who put 500 dollars towards the project. I guess it shows the wisdom of 505 trying to make sure the game gets attention far beyond the original Kickstarter, because folks like you are among the greatest of the Army of the Night's recruits, even if you couldn't join up when it started. Keep doing what you're doing, friend! And who knows, maybe one of us can buy you the game when it comes out as a reward for all your help and enthusiasm, assuming your finances are still in a bit of a parlous state

Same my dude. I didn't back because I was unemployed, just a student who lives off of a dollar a day. I wanted to, but eh. When the Backer Demo released, I had to look for someone online that would let me try it. Before that, I'd be stuck playing my old IGAVania copies. I didn't have a PS1, a GBA and a DS anymore, but I had legitimate carts. I emulated them. Fast forward when Circle of the Moon was announced--that was the fastest purchase I ever made. I had just earned enough money. It was a rainy day too, and my parents questioned me. "Where are you going? The rain is really strong." I told them it was... something important. The things I do for this game... I had to buy Steam Codes on the local game store. On the way home, the rain got damn harder. My shoes were new and I told myself, "A sacrifice shall be made." I wanted to go home as soon as possible just to play ASAP. Well, I couldn't bear it. I eventually cleaned my shoes after I arrived home. After 2 hours, I finally got the game on Steam. All that struggle in the rain, the wait for commute and the likes. I never felt this rewarded in my life. I finished the game within 4 hours and it was such a blast. I eventually convinced my friend to buy it on the Switch. I also want to share a short story of a time Koji Igarashi himself visited my country. It's thread derailment, yeah. So I'll put in in a spoiler just in case you don't want to read it Koji Igarashi attended the event called "Electronic Sports Gaming Summit 2016", ESGS 2016 for short. Didn't attend, because I was on a school trip. Had to compete nationally because I was a part of the campus journalism and my skills were needed. Needless to say, I REGRET REPRESENTING FOR MY SCHOOL. I could've met Igarashi himself for crying out loud! My friend who attended the event DIDN'T EVEN KNOW HIM, but he did visit his sad and plain white booth, showcasing the 2016 Demo. There weren't a lot of people who visited his stall. I FEEL SO BAD FOR NOT COMING. I could've been that one fanboy who made him smile for my overwhelming appreciation. Fast forward today, my friend who met him, his name was Jof, regrets not knowing him. He told me that he should've appeciated him more. /story end.

Who cares, we're all fans here. It's unfair and futile to discriminate against and alienate non-backers, we'll all have backed the game eventually. And, needless to say, you've contributed loads to the community.

Goofball loves you.
Edit: I would back higher if I had the money, but I am glad I got a few bucks before the campaign ended as a slacker-backer. I upgraded my tier many time during that time.
I would go very high up if I had a job back then. No complaints here though. I am sad I missed out on the NYCC print only, with the signatures. But thats really it. Meeting IGA was never part of my "dream" even if I would backed the highest tier, mostly because I live elsewhere than USA or Japan.
The select few on this forums and Discord will know names, and remember them. Associate with Bloodstained. I get it a lot from my Diablo-days when I was all over that community, still to this day! So I know people will remember what you did even years from now; Shaping and questioning features within a game we all want to see be a success.
Well done sir.

You don't have to back, to be a fan. Being a fan is why projects like this are even thought of to begin with. Also, hope things have really gotten a lot better, I know all too well how life can and will throw one thing after another at you. Live long and Goofball.

Yea this is the sort of reason that I don't really care if the "exclusive" content stays exclusive, in fact I'd prefer they didn't but thats for another thread and a heated debate
But I've always felt that this place would welcome anyone even if they were only curious about Castlevania/metroidvania/Iga/Bloodstained or anything similar...
No harm, no foul

Well...I was already offering to do this more quietly within the Kickstarter comments section and had thought of putting it out more widely before, but Pure Miriam's thread here really pushed me over that edge to do it. www.reddit.com/r/Bloodstained/comments/axn0ww/hey_are_you_a_backer_and_want_a_refund/Fans like you deserve backer copies. edit: heh the Reddit mod removed it (it's essentially "trading backer rewards" so against the rules). um...I guess it's against our rules too? err haha. Here's the full text of it - please do not act on this, the team is currently working on a new solution to the platform problem: Hey - are you a backer and want a refund because of a canceled platform? Some crazy guy (clarity edit: it's me) put together a process to essentially make that happen for you. Full info here -
Hello, Brent Taylor/"purifyweirdshard" here. I'm posting this to offer something. If you are a KS backer and want out, I will help you by buying your pledge off of you, up-front, as soon as I can (i.e. today). There are two main reasons I'm doing this -
1) I have seen dedicated fans over the years on the forum and elsewhere who are very active and interested who could not back the game for their own reasons. Post-CotM, there are new fans who desperately want backer copies as well. I want to help them out (or as many as I can).
2) I have seen disappointed backers who have had their platforms canceled and want their money back. I want to help them out (or as many as I can). I may extend this to people who want a refund for ANY reason, pending how this does/doesn't take off; I'll update if it becomes that.
The copies I receive would go to people in group #1 by me giving them away. I do not expect to sell them, but if I do, it will again be to those people at the same $ value I paid (as some may not be willing to accept it for free). If you want, privately, I can provide evidence of this if you want follow-up of what I did with your copy.
Who I Am: I'm an administrator at the official forum of this project. This idea is not from or approved by 505 Games or ArtPlay. I'm just a volunteer fan/backer myself and I make not quite 50k a year or something. Can I really do this? I'm not sure, but I'm trying anyway. From my position in the fandom and visibility, as well as offering the money up-front, obviously I have everything to lose here if I cheat someone, which I have no intention of doing and couldn't anyway if I wanted with the way I'm doing this.
How It Works:
* Post a reply in the Kickstarter comments section, i.e. in a reply to my comment that starts out "Users still desiring refunds, restating my offer again -" with something like "Brent, I will take you up on this". From there, message me on our forum (bloodstained.forums.net) and identify who you are on Kickstarter and we will go from there. Alternatively, if you don't like/don't want to use forums etc, messaging me on Facebook/Messenger could work as well (after doing your KS post).
* I only really have experience with PayPal, but I'm open to trying whatever service or method you're comfortable with. I'd rather not mail a check though lol.
* After I've paid you, in your Fangamer survey, you will update your shipping address to the one I'll give you if your order is physical. If it's digital, you will agree to give me the code(s) for your order.
* If you give me nothing, well, that's my problem. I may identify backers that didn't follow through, though, depending on the situation.
* As mentioned above, if you at any point in the process (after I've paid you) want info/evidence on what is being done with your copy, let me know and I'll get that to you.
* IF YOU ARE A PAYPAL/SLACKER BACKER, and thus cannot post in the KS comments section, please make a forum account and PM me and we'll try to work it out there. Basically, I'll be looking to verify your status as a backer some other way.
Let me know if you have any questions. For some I can think of already: yes, I will cover the added cost of shipping. I'm not sure how I'll give away the games yet (aside from them being certain cases from #1). Please do not send me messages/replies asking for these copies, they'll be given out under my discretion/methods. Thanks!

...
Why does this make me question the institution of universities and paid education now?

purifyweirdshard Wow, i didn't thought that could be done. I'm quite impressed. Basically, you are "buying" backers stuff to refund those who wants a refund, and you are willing to distribute to non-backers? Is that it? If it is that, wow, that's impressive. Such commitement, and i feel honored you even thought about that, considering me. Nezuto I don't know if it is, but, you are considering doing that? Wow...thanks, i mean, i have no words. Mr. Welldone "shining authority of Igavania" i liked how that sounds haha. Yeah, what money on universities have to do with this, i wonder...haha

First of all how dare you.
Second of all I think it's a silly thing to worry about whether someone has backed the project or not. Individually each person (typically) constitutes less than a percent of a percent of the total backer amount, add to that additional investment from third party companies and the total that one backer has contributed is extremely small. One could say that the difference between 0.0002 is and 0 is infinite, but in this case I think the difference really is just 0.0002 (give or take). Prohibit anxieties.

Pure Miriam Yeah, I wouldn't mind it. Both my digital copy and my physical one will be backer copies. I had gone with a tier that netted me 2 copies. Was going to save the physical one as a collector thing, but if push comes to shove, I don't mind cracking it open so you can have a copy. It's pretty much universal agreement, so far, that you deserve it.

Nezuto So you are willing to give me your digital copy? Wow...thanks. Guys, as i said, i MOSTLY can buy the game now, i just wanted to have a backer copy and backed the game myself, but you really don't have to go out of your way to do that. I wasn't even planning on that to happening, really... I'm amazed you guys are thinking on doing things like that. That's really unexpected for me. Thank you.
