First, allow me to bring to light certain material to back my hypothesis: 1- Bloodstained's official poster:  2- Gebel's concept art:  3- Weapon variation concept art:  4- Quote from the Kickstarter page: From Gebel's concept art and the official poster of the game, you may notice that in the poster Gebel's mask is showing in the blade that is on the right side of Miriam. But the mask is on the right side of Gebel's face. If what is appearing in Miriam's blade is a reflection of Gebel's face then the unmasked side of his face should be what we see. This is unlikely to be a mistake on behalf of the artist; someone would have noticed at some point. The other explanation is that what is appearing in the blade on the poster is not a reflection. You can see that the sword she carries can have different versions (a black version can be seen) in the weapon variation concept art. You can also read in the quote that magi-crystals will be an available crafting material, the very thing most of Gebel's body is made of. My hypothesis is that at some point Miriam would obtain a magi-crystal containing the essence of Gebel and craft it into her own weapon. The other possibility is that what we are seeing in the blade is neither a reflection nor the ghost of Gebel. The sword in the poster is different from the ones in the concept art; it appears flat and made of reflective material. But what if that was not reflective material but the blade is actually a tear in the fabric of the world; a portal of sorts. My other hypothesis is that Gebel is hiding in a mirror realm that can only be accessed with a special blade; the mirror blade. That could be where we find our reversed castle and the poster is a hint as to the key needed to get there. What do you think? Is the lord of the night testing us with a puzzle or did someone slip and no one cared enough to fix it? |

Honestly it just looks to me that it's supposed to signify that they're two halves of the same struggle. At this stage it seems more likely that art would be symbolic rather than representative of story.

Well, it could be a symbol of the idea that Miriam is not aiming to hurt Gebel but her blade is aimed at the curse that is consuming him; hence the masked side of his face appearing on her blade.

If people aren't convinced of your idea, they aren't obligated to say they think you're right. But that doesn't mean people thought this post was a waste of space or anything. You should never self-deprecate just because people aren't in agreement with your ideas. |

Maybe we can't see him because the entire image is actually a reflection and Gebel is a vampire, thus his image doesn't appear anywhere but the sword because it has magic properties!

People are extra nice (though a bit extra serious) around here, I am impressed. Though there seems to be a misunderstanding that I was offended or upset by the lack of enthusiasm in responding to my thread. I was not. I'm not going to lie man, you need some thicker skin.
