Having grown up in the Atari and NES decade..I love my early retro styles. But, when the SNES came out and I saw Mario take off flying in that cape of his, it was game over...I'm officially in love with 16bit. Then Super Castlevania IV released and I was so entranced by the game that I Damn near almost forgot about the outside world. So, my choice is actually geared toward a lovely 16bit game. I really think That would be the best "retro" route to take. *Crossing fingers*

I voted for 16 Bit, i may be from the 8 Bit generation but liked 16 Bit from the moment it came out the most, until today^^ Sure that 2D 32 Bit is nice too because its made to resemble the glorious 16 Bit days;)

I want 32-bit because SotN, DoS, HoD, you know, I havent seen the 32 bit awesomeness since Order of Ecclesia.

8-bit graphics, go for 8-bit music and sound (snip) kdfukuyama, Shovel Knight most certainly was not in what you would call "authentic" 8 bit format. It actually ran on a 32 bit C++ build, powered by DirectX, and Open GL. The music is certainly 8 bit though! (gotta love that VRC6!) Ah, but I digress. In fact, Yacht Club Games had admitted to "cheating" a little in order to enhance the visuals and sound quality beyond the standard 8-bit system. Some examples were seen in the UI and HUD, where the upper half of the screen was rendered as a separate layer to permit animations, multiple color palettes all running at once (and 32-bit color textures), breaking the 32k memory limit (SK is clocking in at about 1.2 gigabits, or 150MB), some rules were bent on the sounds as well. Anyway. back on topic... Since Bloodstained will be operating on the 4th build of the Unreal engine, I feel that a 32-bit title would be more aesthetically correct for the reasons stated above. I'd like to avoid another Mighty Gunvolt, if possible. As for the sounds... 8 bit Virt style would be amazing in Castlevania. Citing his work with Shovel Knight made me realize something. Remember that VRC6 I mentioned earlier? Take a listen to this! These are cross comparisons of the Castlevania 3 OST to the Akumajou Densetsu style using the VRC6. Sound familiar? I say let's aim high for the night sky. 8 bit OST with high quality 32 bit sprite work, rendering and all! Though on the 3DS screen (considering it's release format), if stereoscopic 3D is used... perhaps toggling it down a few notches to 16 bit might be better. Either way, It's a matter of finding a comfortable middle for the Vita and 3DS.

I re-read the update about the prequel game and it did say that it would be similar to Mighty Gunvolt while commending Inti for making Mighty Gunvolt in the first place. That means we should expect a 8-bit game. I'm going to say 16-bit. I would like a 32-bit sort of game and it definitely IS possible, but given time and resources it might be best to go with something more low-key. Not to mention you could do a lot with 16-bit.(Just look at Casltevania Bloodlines or Terranigma or Wild Guns) I like 8-bit too, in fact I really like it, but I'm holding out for 16-bit.

For it to feel like a mini game, I think something along the lines of mighty gunvolt would be perfect. Gunvolt-like mini game might require too much of a budget too.

I went with 16-bit since I like the Sega and Genesis art style. A good chunk of games released for those consoles look great today, and it looks like a good self-imposed limit.

I think 32 bit has the beaut of old school and good looking frames, even the music. Is like the evolution in 2D before taking step into HD, thats why I think is the best, since the environments and the enemies are not that pixelated and recognizable.

I would like to see 32 bit because it's still good quality with a similar retro feel.

I like 16-bit but that's probably because the first console I've really played with was the SNES and that's defined what I think of as normal. The graphics and everything after that normally look modern and good to me.

I went for 16-bit. I love the visuals in SCIV and Rondo, and I think Bloodlines was also 16-bit. I think it feels nice and retro without going overboard. I'm also betting its just safer to assume the mini-game wont have the budget for SOTN level visuals.
I'm willing to bet the prequel game and the "Retro Level" in the main game will have the same visuals, and I recall them mentioning the retro level would likely be 8 or 16-bit.

I would prefer a 16-bit game, but i don't think they will go for that, because of budget and time reasons. I expect the quality of Mighty Gunvolt, but I hope the artstyle will be more reminiscent of the classic NES Castlevania. We are talking about a game with horror theme after all. If they develop a 16-bit game, I would be very pleasantly surprised, because I really like the quality of Azure Striker Gunvolt.

I will only accept 16-bit if the mini-game allows the playable character to moonwalk on staircases.

I'd like the prequel to be a spiritual sequel to HoD and AoS... so, GBA-graphics.

Maybe this month's update will be about the prequel mini game.
If the full game will be released in March(though I don't mind the delays), then the prequel should be in production right now.

I don't think that the prequel game will come out before bloodstained. It would be nice to hold us over with that but their intention is probably to put all resources on the main game first. 16 bit is my request though.
