So I thought CotM was the real game but I’ve been informed that it’s more of a fun prequel to RotN and because of that I didn’t realize there was a kickstarter for it.
Is there anyway for me to throw money and it and become a late backer still? That’s how addicted I am to this franchise after playing CotM.

No, unfortunately you just missed it However, before too much longer the traditional retail launch of Bloodstained will happen and I'm sure 505 Games has some excellent things planned for it to get excited about.

It surprises me how many people weren't aware of Bloodstained till Curse of the Moon came out. I had thought everyone who'd have been interested in it would have found it sometime in the last 3 years.
Apparently if you want to market your game Just make another cool, smaller game. Works wonders!

lovelydumplingAs good as the marketing for this game has been there are still way to many people that don't know about this game unfortuantly.

If they ever decided to open backing options again I'd probably throw a couple more dollars their way.

One of my personal friends thought that Curse of the Moon WAS Bloodstained, even after I had thought I explained it, and having so much RotN stuff on my social media timelines. It's kind of easy to see how this could have blindsided some people with how even so many backers forgot that the minigame existed.

I remember ages ago when XombieMike and I first talked about this. All of us need to remember that Castlevania has a mature fanbase. The first game came out over 30 years ago in 1986. The boys who played those early NES games are grown men with jobs, spouses, and families --leaving very little time to hang out on the internet. Sadly, these are the players that would appreciate Curse of the Moon the most --if they still have any time for gaming that is....

I have actually seen the age group results for the survey and indeed there are very few teenagers and young adults that are into this type of game. I hope Bloodstained changes that and people find out and get into this sort of game. It's rather sad, this is a perfect game for young teenagers. On the one hand I understand how it can happen but on the other it still perplexes me how little exposure and mediocre sales the DS Castlevania games had, especially Order of Ecclesia.

I think that's where a good bit of our "make the game faster, why doesn't it have combos" comments come from, the younger crowd ;p
That, and expecting/being used to the modern wave of indie metroidvanias. Great games there, but they're not so much like Iga's to me. I hope newer generations can come to appreciate the slower, more deliberately paced exploration adventure that is an igavania.

I think that's where a good bit of our "make the game faster, why doesn't it have combos" comments come from, the younger crowd ;p That, and expecting/being used to the modern wave of indie metroidvanias. Great games there, but they're not so much like Iga's to me. I hope newer generations can come to appreciate the slower, more deliberately paced exploration adventure that is an igavania. I used to be that same kind of person. Seeing footage of Dust: An Elysian Tail had me super hyped up because the Metroidvania format in combination with fluid combos had me excited. But all that happened since buying the game was that I realized those aren't really the sort of things that drew me to SotN anyway and it doesn't make it a better game. If anything, they tend to bog the game down for me. If you add combos to your game, then you tend to have to make your enemies tankier so your encounters last longer so you can actually make use of those combos. But that just sort of draws out enemy encounters, when what I really want to do is explore the environment. And so much focus in design is put on the combo system that the gameplay largely feels limited to it. In Igavanias I like the variety of flashy tools I have to use. Different weapons, different weapon skills, different command moves, different subweapons. But playing Dust, these things are a lot more sparse, and it feels like every encounter is just doing the same flashy button mashy combos followed by the occasional dodge roll. It's just not nearly as fun as I thought it'd be. Nothing against Dust, it's actually a pretty well made impressive game. But it's not all I hyped it up to be.
