Imagine another game like Curse of the Moon, but plays and feels like a spiritual successor to Simon's Quest in the way that COTM feels like CV3.
Should it happen?

While the idea of the game has appeal, I'm not sure I'd want Inti Creates any further involved in anything Bloodstained related than they have been already. They burned a lot of bridges with the community with this release, not just with the miscommunication regarding platforms and key availability, but with their complete tone deafness regarding DRM and the way that makes ArtPlay look by association given that DRM-free was advertised during the campaign. And yeah, that was only advertised for the main game, but saying that they didn't technically say the mini-game would be DRM-free is basically pulling a "gotcha!"
So the game sounds like a fun idea, but I have no idea who they would get to do it that would both result in a good game and not piss off the community by being associated with it.

Honestly, the IGAvanias are pretty much the natural progression of what Simon's Quest tried to do. If Inti ever comes back to the Classicvania style, I'd root for something like Rondo of Blood. But regarding what Scars Unseen said, I definitely agree that we need to let Inti know that the way they handled the game's release was quite poor, and that their refusal to do a DRM-free version is unacceptable if you consider the main game has that option. I do like Inti's games, always been a big fan of Megaman Zero and I liked what they did with Blaster Master, but this really can't happen again. Fool me once, as they say.

I'd love to see that! Curse of the Moon turned out to be an amazing game and exceeded my expectations by far. Be it a Simon's Quest like game or just a sequel to CotM. I'd also prefere if the same company would make and publish the game (don't care about DRM).

I think I'd prefer something more along the lines of an 8-bit lite version of Symphony of the Night than Castlevania II. I enjoyed Castlevania II when it came out, but that one didn't age as well as the other Classicvanias in my opinion. Even when I first played through it I was disappointed by the lack of variation in enemies, and poor bosses compared to the original Castlevania. Then again it made for a really good Angry Video Game Nerd episode.

After a fashion Simon's Quest was the first Metroidvania, if far more open-ended in progress and esoteric on puzzles. If they could keep those two traits(haha, well, maybe at least make the clues a bit less vague), I'd say go for it.

Squirrel Taskmaster Actually that would probably be the MSX version of Vampire Killer, which came out only a month after the original Famicon version of Castlevania. It's basically a remake of Castlevania with more exploration elements. It also came out the same year as Metroid.

I will only support this project if it of course contains the most important character in the original:

Maybe, though as with games such as this it is important for it not to be TOO MUCH like the games they are based on. I can't imagine it being more true than with simon's quest.
On one hand, it can leave a lot open for a game developer to do their own thing(simon's quest is unmistakable as an entry). But on the other, Simon's quest was very much a game of its time, something like that today would have to take into account the various walkthroughs and resources people can go to coast through the game if they want to keep it a "thinking man's igavania", while at the same time being clear and sane enough to not require the nintendo power hotline.

Simon's Quest is an underrated gem and was scary ahead of its time. It doesn't feel like one of Iga's Metroidvanias to me. Honestly it feels more akin to From Software's Souls series. That sort of lost without a map vibe. Not knowing who is friend or foe and not knowing where to go for help. I'd love to see a spiritual successor to that game.
DRM has nothing to the matter. Inti made a great game and I'd love to see another from them.

Is it wrong to have the nighttime theme from CV2 running through my head on repeat whenever I read this thread?

Not at all, although individuals who can't replay music in their minds may get jealous of your ability to do so.

Busterific Is that a thing? I play music in my head almost constantly and even compose it occasionally. From my understanding that is a thing, although I can't think of the specific term that was used for it off the top of my head. The same goes for being able to bring up an image in your mind which I'm not as good at as being able to replay a song or voice. I tend to have music constantly skimming across the top of my mind as well and didn't consider that not everyone would be able to do that until it had been mentioned it to me.
It actually gets more unusual than that too. Apparently people with Chromesthesia will strongly associate sounds with specific colors which is also something I would not have considered without hearing about it elsewhere.

Busterific I remember the smell of the place I was at when I first heard particularly memorable pieces of music. There are some songs I associate with specific events or seasons, but not smells. There are a few video games that always bring a particular season in mind as well. Usually when that season comes around I get an urge to re-listen to the music or re-play the game which probably further solidifies the association.

Busterific Maybe I've just been in smellier places than you. Hopefully places that smell good rather than smell bad. It probably more has to do with the fact that I'm allergic to almost everything and most of the time can't smell anything at all.
