I want to type this thing out before I forget it haha. I thought they were fairly interesting concepts for what you would kind of expect in these games, and one thing that could be in the future.
It started off pretty odd lol. Maybe this is Angel's fault for the cryptocurrency thing, but I was at some kind of store and the guy in front of me was turning in papers because he had devised a way somehow to monetize drops being found in "the game" (this game looked like a Sorrow title, was 2D, Soma was running around). Just as my brain was trying to figure that whole thing out, it shifted more to actual gameplay and I was watching someone, and a voice that didn't sound like mine talking about what they were doing like it was a very obscure secret.
They killed an enemy that looked like something you might find in Bloodstained - called a "cursed ____" that kind of looked like an open three-pronged black claw that stayed open with little pieces of something (shards) embedded in it (edit: it was pretty similar to this sub boss in Mega Man X4, just not icy). There seemed to be nothing else in the game like it. It had fast horizontal left-right movement near the top of the screen to prevent you from jumping up to the stage transition above. The player killed it and got a soul/shard, which was something I can't recall being in an Iga game yet - it summoned the claw/stingery thing around you for double jump dive kicks.
He goes to the castle entrance with it, and all the way to the beginning. I mostly remember what the gate looked like, it was a different color than usual, kind of cream/light yellow. An apparent obscure property of the kick move is that it can pierce and break open the gate. The first three times it shakes a little and then crumbles. The player is able to move just a little bit outside, and then can use movement (I think it was just jumps here) to get to a ledge above the entrance that leads to a very different kind of room.
It's in 2.5D. There are HUGE treasure chests in here, 9 I think, piled on top of each other in 3s in a pretty large area that I'm seeming to remember as thinking was a library-ish place. One of the chests had the blue glowing model outline kind of like Miriam has/used to have that was highlighting it some. Once you move in there, the camera changes to give you full 3D movement following behind you. The big chests contain various things with odd names, the only one which I can remember being "Disc Truth". This is around where the dream ends.
...As I'm typing this out and thinking about it, I think I can even come up with a meaning here (this is a NEW realization lol, so everything said before now is before this was coming together lol) - all together it could be a metaphor for Bloodstained's creation. Suppose the characters involved are these people:
me: myself, a player
Strange guy ahead of me trying to monetize Castlevania drops in some weird way: current game industry and trends
Soma: IGA, the hero, but also master of the castle and its powers (just as Soma is the lord of the castle)
The monster: The struggle of work and reaching new heights (it blocked progression), but in conquering it growing stronger, and therefore -
Monster soul/shard: IGA's experience/determination
The castle gate, and breaking it: Going back to the beginning, square one, and breaking out using what you've gathered
Uncharted ledge and 2.5D: Bloodstained being made as a concept, something new
Chests: These may be game design principles that are within Bloodstained, I seem to recall them sounding like virtues attached to things. "Disc Truth" kind of sounds like honesty of what's included in the game, in a pretty literal way heh.
Crazy right? As it was happening, I definitely didn't perceive any deeper meaning, but the game shifting to 2.5 (and then full on 3D) could be me thinking something. D:
