Went to the Immigration Embassy in order prolong my Visa this morning worst appointment ever, I have made an appointment to be around 8 in the morning, so I can finish the work quickly But then after reaching the appointment time, my number was not called, which is a bit strange, so I waited a while, which is almost around 2 hours... (if you go to any of the counter for the appointment, they will just say "wait until we call your number") I'm kinda pissed on that, and what make it worse, is that after my appointment number got called, they make me went to another counter to finish the paperwork, which lead me to wait for another 3 hours.... Yeah, I'm really angry and confused, on what's the point of having an appointment if they will make me wait that long for the Visa? Without appointment, you will have the same waiting time...
After the whole immigration embassy stuff is over, I went to my college immediately in order to update my information because the rule says so. After reaching the college, they told me that the timing has changed.... Which where the counter will accept such things..... With how things goes, I really need to cool-off, so I went to a mall to shop for new bag, since the strap with my old bag already broken, they don't have the model I want....
Yeah, kinda of a bad day for me today...

Hey guys long time no see, haven't been here awhile. Holy crap time goes fast, I'm almost saying goodbye to my first year as a master student. Well there's nothing important for me to do as a newbie, just read a bunch of papers, code the algorithm, debug, then repeat. Life is simple, and that's a good thing... I think? Nothing new recently, bought a new headphone, got myself a visa for going to SIGGRAPH this year, saw the new trailer of MN9, and that's... not good at all. (how could they end up like that with 4M-dollar-support behind?!) and of course waiting the new post from kickstarter about May Update Oh yeah, although it's already like 3 months later, still XombieMike thank you sir for celebrating my birthday! That's very heartwarming!!! That's all I think, have a nice day guys!

Well, not much going on today since it's the weekend. Though I'd stop by in the forums because I've been working two jobs and I've been missing you guys. One job is editing and organizing a book and blog for a local author, the other my office job as the paper shuffler for two lawyers. Anyway, time for a history recap! Thank you for the Birthday wishes, guys! I had a great day then. I did a lock-in maze that was Library themed (it wasn't as fancy as I imagined, but it's a small company) that myself, my family, and one of my best friends ALMOST got out of before the buzzer went off. (I'm doing without the parents next time! Trying to tell me clues aren't clues...haha!!) Then we went to Iwataya Japanese restaurant (and pantry! They had cool stuff) to sample it and I approve 100%...one of my favorite near-local Japanese joints thus far! We get to eat there again when con time comes around next year. It's near the location. Also bcgam3r tattling on my Setzer fangirlism. He shares Alucard's Japanese voiceactor/seiyuu in his Kingdom Hearts 2 appearance. He doesn't just LOOK like Alucard, he sounds like him, too. Hmm. I'm thinking Iga and Square Enix were playing ping-pong with referencing each other. Much like what happens with Castlevania and Jojo's Bizarre Adventure. I haven't had the opportunity to play FF6 yet but I've seen a lot of gameplay, and I love it. dimlitcandle sorry but I couldn't resist I couldn't believe how on point my observation of Setzer being like Han Solo was when the second airship you obtain from Darill's grave was named the Falcon! They had to have known on some level... Speaking of I finished the game not too long ago, and in a somewhat spectacular fashion at that. Sabin managed to kill off Kefka's final form by himself in one turn by comboing him to death ( using a relic combination that allowed him to strike 8 times and I might have casted quick but still ). You should give the game a go when you have the chance, I had alot of new favorite characters from the series by the end of it and the goofy moments are some of the best I've seen. With that done I can finally get to playing Xenoblade Chronicles X after having it backlogged for awhile. Though I don't know very much about the series itself having played none of the games prior so this ought to be interesting...

The opening scene in FF3(6) has Biggs and Wedge and the whole game is rebels vs the empire. Somehow though I missed the Falcon reference... Thanks for pointing that out. I love the line about Setzer!

I got a new job. And by a new job, I mean an additional part-time retail job.
Remember the scene in Ghostbusters where the Ghostbusters are asked if they're gods, they say "no,' and things get worse? I was swiftly reminded the same exact same thing can happen in retail if your supervisor asks if have any prior commitments "tomorrow."
On one hand, I immediately realized what was happening after I said I was available and I felt like I made a rookie mistake. On the other, I was the only new employee available, I wanted to make a good impression, and it's an additional source of income. Just a few dollars closer towards getting a GeForce GTX 1080...

Part of the reason I have not been posting here is because I started working part-time at a grocery store. Things get pretty nuts there, especially on the weekends. Yesterday I was in charge of putting away the backstock, i.e. all the stuff people leave behind or don't want anymore. There were TEN full-size shopping carts full of stuff, and in four hours I only emptied two of them. It was insane.

lol wow. When I'm in grocery stores, a lot of the time I'll see things askew or out of place and put them back myself. Certainly if I decide not to get something, I'm putting it back. I'm OCD enough though that if I'm even looking at a display and something is not sitting correctly, I'll go ahead and fix that lol.
I know I'm from a very rural area where things are different, but it's just crazy to me how impersonal and hurried everyone is in a more urban area. It's like they just can't give thought to what they're doing. I also pick up a lot of trash on the way to/from places a lot of the time since I walk. It's somewhat ridiculous the kinds of things I come across doing that, lol.

Ah, the joys of working retail and grocery stores. What fun. But as long as there's a good work environment and employees that are willing to put in the hours, everything that needs to get done should get done... eventually. Nowhere near as fun as getting to meet someone whose work was partially responsible for getting you interested/hooked on American comics, though. There was a Brian Michael Bendis signing over the weekend. I went to the Bendis signing. I brought the Alias omnibus I bought a while back to the Bendis signing since that's something Bendis wrote. Bendis signed it. The omnibus I owned, I mean. At the Bendis signing. Bendis. Say what you will about Bendis's work, but I love what he did on Ultimate Spider-Man, Alias, and what I've read of his Daredevil run. He was incredibly classy and kind towards everyone who met him, willing to take pictures, make small talk, and shortly after he arrived he announced he was willing to stay as long as there were still people waiting in line for him instead of the two-hour window that was originally planned. For the Bendis signing.

So I dozed off at work earlier, and in my head I imagined like a JRPG subplot to the tune of Lufia 2's overworld theme. Can't recall the details lol, or why it would be that song, haven't heard it lately...but I do really like that game and its music.
Last night, I was starting my playthrough of the Dragon Force 2 fan translation that's been out for about a year now.
Really excited for Koji Igarashi's new game, obviously...and seeing Resident Evil 2, certainly.
Yes, I am STILL firmly in the mid to late 90s.

Though I don't know very much about the series itself having played none of the games prior so this ought to be interesting... Having now completed the main story and spending many unintentional late nights playing, I can safely say I regret not picking this up earlier. I had foolishly assumed it was more of a typical JRPG and did not expect to get Monster Hunter with mechs.

I guess my day starts with a story. I was raised in Appalachia. I didn't have much, my parents were divorced and kinda abusive. I say 'kinda', because they didn't know how to raise a kid. I was No. 1 of what became 7. I was mocked in school a lot for what later would be diagnosed as Type 2 Albinism along with Aspergers and Syncope. And I was a nerd... SOTN was literally the only game I owned for a year, so I've got the whole thing burned into my head now. Built computers out of trashed parts from the high school I went to. Life was hard, and after I finally graduated and escaped my family... I got involved in something and became a scapegoat. Lost a year of my life, mentally regressed, etc. Trauma. Layers, like an onion. Got married, got divorced. Dated, got dumped. Repeatedly. Could never get the hang of 'socialization', or even 'romance'. Found out I had Fibromyalgia. Lost my job, and after a couple of dating/living together situations ended up homeless. Got nerve damage during several snow storms from frost bite. I was in NY, because that's where you go when you want to try hard to make it big. Made sense at the time. But this isn't a sob story. A lady from PA, retired librarian, took me in. Gave me the house her step-daughter pretty much abandoned. Got on medications and started to slowly recover. Rebuilt the inside over a period of five years, because it was a mess. Started working on an associates degree. It was slow... I broke my arms falling down the steps (which took months to heal), and then summers I worked under the table odd-jobs on "good days" so I'd have at least -some- necessities. And then there was physical therapy. doctors, etc. Anyway, it finally paid off. And today (or yesterday) I got this in the mail... I'm still pushing to raise money for a BS, then actually go to a real campus and get a Juris Doctorate. With my GPA and sheer will... won't be hard if I can find a way to pay, a cosigner, or whatever. I hope to go to University of Pittsburgh School of Law, then eventually become a lawyer. Mostly because it's all brain work, arguing points, researching similar cases, etc; and I'm good at that. So yeah... Today was the first step in a success story. Idiot kid from middle of nowhere starting to make something of himself. Say what you want, but I'm proud of myself today.

That's awesome, Wilhelm. I hope your path continues to smooth out and brighten as time rolls along. Me, I have a kidney stone. It started hurting me yesterday morning...quite a bit. I'm on pain meds now (Percocet), after having been given IV morphine in the ER. That was yesterday, and hopefully tomorrow (Monday), a urologist can fit me in to get a lithotripsy. The stone is apparently "borderline" too big to pass, so the ER doc recommended I see someone as soon as possible back around my place. I was at my dad's at the time for Father's Day weekend. Hope it all goes well.

I was okay after taking some prescription painkillers and getting a shot of painkiller at the hospital (after an agonizing three hours), and luckily I was able to pass them without issue. I haven't had any other stones but the experience put me off ice cream. I was eating a tub of Ben and Jerry's once a week around the time I had the stones, so I think that is what caused them. Now I have ice cream only once a great while, as a special treat. Anyway, I wish you luck and I hope everything goes well!

Well...it has been similar to what you described so far, but just without passing it. I've had the thing since Saturday morning and my trip to Urology was not the greatest. The office there was pretty lifeless and unhelpful, basically the doc said "keep trying to pass it, here's some more pain meds, I'm too busy to deal with it until at least next Monday".
It showed up on CT imaging at the ER I went to, but not on the x-ray they took at the office, so lithotripsy wasn't possible (they didn't know where to target). So...I'm just holding on to it and hoping it leaves me, and if it doesn't, in two weeks I go back to probably schedule some kind of intervention. Maybe a ureteroscopy.

My day sucked. Why? My laptop is dead and I use it for just about everything including playing Bloodstained and recording the podcast. I've sent off for a new hard drive, in hopes it will get here soon, that it will fix the problem, and that I can get the OS reinstalled.
EDIT: Ok... so after I ordered the hard drive... I put the HD back in the laptop and powered it just to see if I could hear it spin. Guess what... it works. Let's see if I can't cancel an order...

I'm pretty good today actually. After having some troubles with a kidney stone, today has been a day without pain so far. So I'm hoping this keeps up and I'm awaiting it getting removed.

So today wasn't particularly special. Just had a chance this weekend to veg out for a bit and catch up on a few movies and some TV. The exciting bit was last weekend. It was my birthday back last weekend. Got to go hang out with a few friends I hadn't seen in a while. Got to go to dinner with my parents.
But most of all I got to do this!
My dad and I (mainly my dad) worked on this engine for 7 years. We'd had a chance to get it out on our track last fall but because of a number of issues, we really didn't even get to run it more than back and forth on a straight section of the track for a few feet. It was very disappointing after the work it took to get there. But this! This was vindication. We still have a couple more issues, which we've figured out and some of which my father has already taken care of, but this next weekend we're expecting to be able to make a full run around our track at home. I AM SO PUMPED FOR NEXT WEEKEND!!!
