I always appreciate when games rotate like that as I find it a lot more immersive and more rewarding to get items, but I would still put it rather low on a list of priorities, wouldn't adding something like that decrease the chance of hair animations or various other things already on a hope to do if they have time list? I mean I suppose 3D models already exist of all items in the game so it wouldn't be too difficulty maybe? really depends on how much effort it would take as it's not a big deal to me

I mean I suppose 3D models already exist of all items in the game so it wouldn't be too difficulty maybe? I don't know... There may not even be 3D models of stuff like say... armor. Or food. Or crafting materials... This may really spiral out of control if they have to redo all of that stuff as models. Also, it seems kind of weird, seeing that they already have quite polished, nice looking icons.

Would be great if Miriam could be turned if she is a 3D, along with the weapons, costume and familiar. But items in general do not need a "carousel feature". Even though items are in 3D, they would be more afficiate as a design in Miriams or any other characters hands or hilt etc. Even the items we craft will be visible if they make it so the menu have Miriam in 3D. If she isn't in 3D, and items aren't as such either, I wouldn't be sad. It is just candy for me, these things. It really doesn't add anything to the experience in general. This carousel feature reminds me of Resident Evil games Edit: Also, having the items in 2D really makes sense for a traditional IGAvania, even though Bloodstained is 2,5D. I vote no, leave icons as 2D.

Im still hoping for a 3d bestiary or some sort of encyclopedia in the game that gives you info about all monsters, weapons, items, etc etc.
For the menus though im fine with icons.

Honestly my preference would be a path going the opposite direction - pixel icons like the older games hahaha.
I do like Star Ocean and Resident Evil especially where you can rotate and examine items, and in classic RE's case use that to find puzzle pieces and key items. Bloodstained doesn't have that kind of inventory though, there being like 20x the items of a RE game.
I think it would be possible to give us renders in-menu of the weapons to look at as well as other items that visually appear on Miriam, which would be great. Icons will still need to exist, though, at least for all the non-appearing items.

depends, while having a silent hill or re1 style 'examine' viewer would be neat (especially for things with a 3d model already like weapons and hats, and perhaps this thought process and coding could extend to bestiary, and actually im willing to bet they already have a similar code module in place because miriam herself is the ingame model being displayed in the menu) i think for the actual menus the 2d icons would serve you better for finding items in a glance similar to the pixel icons in earlier games

We don't need to have everything 3D in 'stained. That said, if it's nicely done, why not? But only if one inspects an item, first seen as a flat model.
...Really, that is not necessary.

If they're well done, I actually prefer the pixel icons. I find them much more charming. 3-D menus usually look amateurish and boring.

Personally, I think pixel-icons (or icons in general) in this 2,5D game would make less sense than a bag. The bag is there for just that reason (to either give you a suprise, or a better feel for the items. Mostly because the game is a combination of "reality" as a base, but also "fantasy / goth". ( kronfarfar ) Pixel-icons, which I just mentioned, is something I would enjoy MORE in the pixel prequal, even if it weren't pixels I would still enjoy a solid 2D and icons as pick-ups. It works fine in smaller projects, or more cartoony, heck even retro! While the bags are generic (I agree), I would be very open to discuss alternatives. Finding a "real" whip would be very anti-climatic if it were to drop down like a dead snake, and spreading across the floor. Sure it would suit the reality checkbox, but not so much of the fantasy/goth one which is a bit more tidy because it have some rules attached to those genres. So. Would you like to discuss the bag of items? The alternative of icons or real items laying around for Bloodstained?

purifyweirdshardThe flowers are actually 3d. Just like the coins and what not that drop. Its super hard to see on the larger flowers as they simply fall down. The smaller flowers though, they ''float down'' so you can see some rotation on them. =]
