The Prequel Mini-Game, which you casually grabbed as you were sprinting to the bottom of the basement, is the kind of thing Inti has done before -- see Mighty Gunvolt -- but rather than a crossover, this game will be set entirely within the Bloodstained universe, casting some light on the events that transpired prior to Miriam's awakening.
This game will later be sold separately, but every $28+ backer copy of Bloodstained will come with a FREE download of this game on PS4, XB1, Wii U, or PC! (So backers at Physical+Digital tiers will be eligible for 2 copies of the mini-game.) At the current pace of funding, it's just a matter of hours until Inti is committed to develop the minigame for Vita/3DS as well. [ source] A. Imagine the 2D pixel mini-game prequel is released same day as the main game, would you consider playing it before or after the main game?

I'm going to choose C. Largely due to the fact I'll play whatever is released first. If it's the main game first then the prequel will be a neat way to first see the aftermath and then see why it all occurred, with all the knowledge that entails. If the prequel gets released first then I can play through it chronologically. Same time release then maybe chronological, maybe side by side. That one will really depend on how I'm feeling that night.

I have a feeling that the plan they have for us is to play the main game first, THEN the prequel. I usually try to stick to whatever the dev team had on their plan for us. Like, if playing the main game first, and then the prequel is their plan, the prequel will surely have easter eggs and interesting references to the main game, and i don't believe the main game will hafe such thing.
So, considering that i believe the dev team expects the natural flow to be "main game => prequel", that's what i'm gonna do.
Oh, and the prequel will be played with Zangetsu. Mark my words. (i can be wrong, but that's what i think).

I'd rather play and finish the prequel before the main game, but that depends on a few factors: - Will the prequel be released at the same time as the main game?
- Can I resist playing the main game that much?
- How engaging the prequel will be?
- How long will it be?
