I was thinking about the IGN Article screen shots and how some of them aren't from the normal side view gameplay perspective. I'm wondering if there is some sort of pause menu that lets you take control of the camera and look around in 3D. Where would that be accessed though? We have seen the character menu. The map screen was a bit basic and I bet that is going to look better by the end. Maybe it's a map menu option?

That's a very good question...if I had to guess I'd say those were mocked-up screens custom created by the dev team and given to IGN for publicity. I wouldn't bet on a camera control function being included in game ;o

Yeah, I just assumed that was something created within Unreal by the team rather than an in-game feature, but I definitely wouldn't be against it. Would be a super great way to get a better look at the stuff you equip on Miriam, as a common concern with that is "we can barely see the cool things". Much more so in the case of the Switch/Vita, I'm thinking.

Nvidia Ansel support would be cool!
I know some SFV modders use cheat engine to pause the game and reposition cameras and what not.
So maybe that could be a thing.

I highly doubt this is going to be in the game. That being said... It might be my favorite feature idea I've seen yet.

I might be going against the flow here, but I would prefer no camera controls personally.

Cale Just out of curiosity, why not? We're not talking about anything that would alter gameplay, but rather just be used to set up screenshots. I genuinely cannot see any reasoning against such a feature other than it taking up dev time, but that isn't really an argument against the feature itself.

Well since it is already 2.5D it doesn't make a difference if you could or couldn't move the camera around. But for me, the less control over the camera the more 2D it seems to me. As it being a feature I see no problem with it. If implemented I won't be using it. Keep in mind please that this is not spite. Whatever vision Iga has will be implemented, and if others enjoy such features then I am glad. I guess it comes down to trying to experience the same feeling I got from SotN.

Pause, and choose Snapshot and turn around the area, zoom, use filters and such - then save.
On ALL platforms, not exclusivly on one!

I reckon these are just "Bullshots" mocked up by IGN for the sake of the article. But of course theres a (small) possibility that they are real, the cam could shift angle when in certain areas or perhaps when a crit happens or something but i really hope this isn't the case - not sure how i feel about the camera flying around everywhere every 5 minutes (you guys know already i'm a traditionalist). Maybe theres camera options that are toggle-able or maybe it's just for certain transitions, hell maybe there's manual camera control options (i kinda hope there isn't though).

m0nkf15h That's not what "bullshots" means. Promotional in-engine screenshots using a camera angle you won't be playing at isn't deceptive; it's just marketing. "Bullshots" are when the developer/publisher pushes a game's technical details beyond a point that can actually be supported on the platforms the game will be sold on. Calling a simple perspective change a "bullshot" both does a disservice to the developers and waters down the term for times when it's used to call out actual deceptive practices that need to have attention brought to them.

m0nkf15h I don't think too many people are going to expect and/or remember these camera angles in any case. It's not what I'd call "deception" if the character/enemy models and background designs shown are still basically going to be the same [and what the final game's going to look like], regardless of camera angle.

Scars Unseen I respectfully disagree, its still misleading, call it marketing if you like i call it deception as it does misrepresent the product Hey you guys, it's actually pretty standard to show images of the game with content or in a manner that will not be in the final game.
That's why we're always very clear about saying it's WIP, and this practice of setting up shots is a very common one in the industry.
With Mass Effect 2 for example, at one point they had ammo counts on the weapons like in Dead Space. This was featured prominently in magazines and online at the time. Later as any fan will know, this was removed in favor of a traditional player UI.
Unless something is confirmed to be in the game, you should not expect to glean things by noticing minor details like this and then taking that as a confirmation of anything. As a relevant example, it would be like using a "twirly screen" transition effect in a trailer, and then expecting to have the ability to twirl your screen in game.
And let's please keep in mind how we describe things, calling something like this "deception" is cranking the dial to 11 over nothing. It can cause enflamed reactions and also make any other concerns you may have be dismissed entirely, regardless of their validity, because you're already calling the devs/publisher liars over something as routine as a promotional shot.
Hope that makes sense and clears up any concerns.

Angel-Corlux It might be standard practice across the industry to do this kind of thing these days, but speaking as the kind of person who's been living under a rock since the 90's i'm not used to it. I'm certainly not trying to "crank the dial" to anywhere nor am I attacking the dev team or calling anyone a liar. I'm just old fashioned in my outlook. I get the feeling you're personally offended by my comments if so then i'm sorry, I'm not trying to make your life harder or your job more difficult, I want Bloodstained to be as successful as it can be which is why i raised certain other concerns that you elude to. I don't know what's routine in the industry these days because i don't engage with it, "promotional shots" didnt really exist the last time i picked up a gaming magazine, you're lucky if you got a screengrab from the pre-release alpha of something back in those days (or worse completely faked screenshots made by whatever mag is doing a preview) so when i see something with wildly different camera from what i'm expecting i'm going to be suspicious of it in a way that a lot of other people probably arent because they engage with modern media and are used to seeing this kind of thing even if it's not necessarily going to be an in game feature.

I can certainly see Monkfish's point here. I'm sure he's not the only one to feel that way. If I knew nothing about Bloodstained, and saw these screen shots, I would expect to be able to see the shots in the game. The screen shots represent the game to those who aren't familiar with it. As someone who follows the game closely, it was a big surprise to see these camera angles. Perhaps Angel-Corlux is just being coy and not wanting a feature to be announced in this way. I didn't read his statement in a way that said we won't be able to do something like this with the game, only that we shouldn't assume we can from these shots. I can also see how such a response directly quoting Monkfish could make him feel... I don't know... singled out. However, I prefer direct statements rather than blanket statements that are general.
