Hi everyone! As I said, I have some doubts amn maybe you guys can help me. So here we go: - If I bought a physical copy for Steam, I'll need the DVD for playing every time?
- Will be there a code for activating the game too in the library?
- And if so, Will you be abel to play like a Digital copy?
All of this came to my mind because recently my DVD player of my PC broke, so now I don't know If would be best to change to a digital copy or there is no need with Steam version. - And also, if I have to pick the Alchemist's Treasure + a Digital copy for example, will the digital copy of the game include the exclusive backer-only content?
Thanks a lot guys in advance! Have a happy feasts!

just buy a replacement dvd drive they are super cheap and then you got no problem. It'll be less of a hassle than changing your backer reward, as long as you pledged $60USD or more your versions (physical or otherwise) should have backer exclusive content as far as i understand it.

Thanks a lot guys in advance! Have a happy feasts! Hi Xehan, let me see if I can give you some answers:
If you bought a physical copy you will need the physical copy every time you launch the game, there will be an eye scan through your webcam and a dna verification via patented "Bloodstain DNA Sampler 5000". Also you will need to call me personally and say the password "Iga rocks".
lol srsly though:
- You won't need the physical copy - There will be a code to activate the game digitally - Backing for the physical copy will allow you to run and treat the game as if you had gotten it digitally. - The digital version (and physical one) will contain your backer-only content
Hope that helps clear up your doubts!
Thx gunlord500 for the tag.

Thx gunlord500 for the tag. I was just wondering this too! So just to be clear, even if we bought a physical copy for Steam, we won't need to use de cd even once, right?

In traditional physical copies that also have a digital market it goes like this:
You get the DVD. You open the case. You see a code and a disc. You go to either Steam or GOG (which ever you picked when you purchased the game) and enter the code on their site without the disc inserted. You now receive an digital copy.
The DVD will have Bloodstained 1.0 on it, or whatever Vanilla number it has without any patches and updates. If you would to sit one day without Internet, it could possibly be playable with this DVD. The DVD might also have tools for you, depending on how the developers think. If modding is a thing for example. There would also be the extra content which will also be in digital.
So yes, you can play the game without ever put in the DVD in a computer as long as you open and get the code for the download and have Internet.
When it comes to steam, that game will be in the library. GoG is a bit more flexible when it comes to that kind of lists but they have their own library app.
Reasons for having it on DVD is 1. It's physical media, you can show people the game IRL without booting your computer or console. 2. If internet is dead, games sometimes work offline with the disc if it's related to steam (on console and GOG it should be able to play offline at any given time as long as the latest update it had was downloaded 100%. 3. Having first playable launch version without updates is a matter of taste. As a speed runner you might wanna use those glitches and bugs that are fixed later on with online updates. 4. Nostalgia value.

GOG is completely DRM-FREE! Keep that in mind. You can play your games without its optional client (Galaxy), without internet connection (only exception is to download your game ONCE, the very FIRST time, then you can back it up in your preferred file storing media) and without any discs to be inserted. GOG's installers are custom-made and unique.
Steam is the mainstream option, though, with the large social part and the place where everybody owns a large library of games... But still, you might want to opt to GOG; at least for this masterpiece of a game.

Yeah I got my physical copy gog-style. Surprised moar people didn't do that.
Speaking of which though, I wonder if this game will be on the steam/gog connect thing. That would be nice. What exactly is required for that to happen?

What exactly is required for that to happen? Well, even though GOG's version is better (from a gamer's perspective, since it lacks DRM)... Not many people prefer that service... Because it isn't like Steam (social gathering, one place to have all your games, etc). GOG is relatively a latecomer in modern games, since its main specialization, had been good Old ones. Because devs and publishers don't trust DRM free much; even if sales prove otherwise. Lately, it got an optional client, lots of games started having achievements support, now even profiles and feed are a thing there, so essentially, it is a Steam copycat, or more precisely, a poor man's Steam, of sorts (sigh, i miss the good old days that it had nothing to do with mainstream services...). I chose GOG version. I wouldn't pick Steam's, even if they gave it for free to me, even if they paid me to choose it. Custom installer, ability to back it up, no DRM whatsoever, or even internet connection required to install & play... It is too much to bypass. I will get an empty box, print a cover and make myself a custom physical edition, out of it; there is also that thread in the forums there, offering artwork to help you towards this direction, right there. About connect, we will have to wait. Those are timed events and within time margins. That and they (gog) need to get the publisher's approval. Won't happen anytime soon. Usually, it is about old games, or those ones that need more advertising.

yeah, I know that the larger social platform is a reason people would pick steam over gog, I wasn't asking why people would. Just surprised that that many people favor those values over the more traditional gamer values when this game is essentially a recreation of an older loved series.
That's also why I brought up gog connect. Because you could have the best of both worlds with gog connect.

Hello everyone! Sorry for bumping such an old topic but I thought it'd be better than making a whole new thread. If I have Special Backer Edition Physical Copy tier and get it for Steam, I'll still get a physical box sent to me right? I know I'll get the steam code somehow but I'm concerned about whether or not I'll get a physical case (it's pretty). Thank you!

Otherwise you'd be paying shipping for...nothing! mwahaha Also this thread has such a misleading title. Every time I see it, I'm thinking someone is worried about the game itself or something.
