From a scale from 1 to 10,10 being the highest level of desire, how much do you want a "Castlevania Maker"? (For the classic games of course since making a Metroidvania is hard) To not make people spam 10 on this thread this "project" isn't made by fans (like Mega Man Maker) but made by KONAMI!!!

After Metal Gear Survive and EROTIC VIOLENCE, I'd really rather they just left the franchise alone...

10 but not made by Konami. The point of the thread is to know how much you would want a Castlevania BY Konami though.

10 if it comes to PC.
Edit: Noticed the Konami afterwards. Their old 2D games were fine. My urge have fallen too since. But I would check it out, build 10 levels and be done with it.

0 if it comes to PC only. Greater than 0 if it releases on PS4 or Switch. Greater than 2 if it releases on PS4 or Switch AND on physical disk/cart.

Playing Super bomberman R, it's clear some people at Konami still love making games so 10 /10. I'd want to support Konami in production of classicvania and see no reason it'd not be great.

I agree with DaNastyMan. I can forgive Konami if Super Bomberman R is a sign of a better future. But if they are not willing to do anything worth buying. Then I'm not sure. I think the biggest idea here is: I would like to see them trying. But if it's not good, then I wouldn't want to buy it. If they are willing to put quality games, I'm willing to buy them. Otherwise... no.

0 for me as well. I prefer to see complete single player games. Super Mario Maker is fun for 5 minutes or maybe more, but the level editor is suitable for Mario, it is like a child’s playground and can be fun. CV is better left alone now, anyway. We have Bloodstained coming out. Maybe some day Konami will ask IGA to make another CV, but still I would want a normal game, not a level editor.

depends, the biggest issue with a cv maker is unlike mario where the 2d gameplay and tileset rules havent changed since the first one (just more pixels per tile) you have eras of cv that use wildly different scales, even classicvania try matching the scale of cv1-3 to the scale of cv4 and rondo or to bloodlines, once you get into the igavanias (and cotm) you get more of a consistent scale thats easier to implement but then you get into why would they do this, especially with their current seeming apathy toward gamers (the company not the dev teams, bomberman may be unpolished and the boss ai a mess but you can tell they used the time they had to try and make a good game)

Not quite, but instead a redone Harmony of Despair or sequel with customization and mods on Steam.
So basically, there's still a core playable game there, and only the truly dedicated and creative make the new levels and content rather than a flood of mediocre stuff and no main game...which is what I imagine happening with just a Castlevania maker.

I'd only really put up with this after I find out whether the so-called rumor of Konami making a new Castlevania exclusively for the Switch is true.
I doubt it is, but we'll find out.

Where did you hear that? I'd be happy if they just released the GBA (and DS too, if possible) titles onto the virtual console (and the virtual console be released on the Switch too...).

The very reason why I doubt the rumor's validity is that I saw it on Facebook, and nowhere else. Some folks are trying to bring up the interview Miketendo64 had with Richard Jones as a source, but that was several months ago (and just talks about the possibility of Konami developing games for the Switch; non-specific).

The problem with Konami is not only not making Castlevania games. But just not really making games anymore. Except for mobile and pachinko (of which they make a lot), they barely do anything at all.
Capcom prioritizes some series over others right now, however, they still make games, and if there is demand and support for a series (money), it is likely that they will do it, and if it works the series has a chance of being revived.
Same with SEGA and Nintendo, and most companies in general.
With Konami in its current state, it's hard to find hope, because they barely care about anything that is not pachinko or mobile. That's the problem, sure Super Bomberman R happened... but it has been a long while already, I'm not sure if it's sign of things to come.
I have no hope about it...
The future of this series lies on fanworks at the moment (similar to a certain famous Capcom series). And we can only enjoy the past of what once was. If Konami ever decides to be even a shadow of its former self (because they're not even that anymore), then I can imagine a possibility.
I avoid trying to dream too much about such a thing, because it's tempting to disappoint me. So unless there is any proof of it, I will probably remain sceptical about it.

Well, the source would be those articles referencing the interview yeah, though there was that one guy I saw myself who took it to mean "Konami has promised CV game on the Switch". I definitely wouldn't say that haha

MorningSun You just reminded me that the Okami re-remaster is not coming to the Switch, I really feel like Capcom are missing an opportunity there!
