Hello everyone!Angel here, your friendly, (slightly) jet lagged Igavaniac responsible for the publishing success of Bloodstained at 505 Games. Last week I and a few other colleagues from 505 Games traveled all the way to Tokyo, Japan to visit and work with Igarashi-san, the ArtPlay team, and DICO. Now while I can't discuss the vast majority of what was covered or worked on, I come bearing gifts! Read on for answers to some questions I couldn't answer during the recent live-stream interview, sharing what I can about what was accomplished, pictures and stories from the trip, and last but not least, hints of things to come!
PENDING QUESTIONS ANSWEREDNow keep in mind, I got all the answers I wanted and more, but I can't share everything with everyone (yet). But here are some morsels that will hopefully satisfy some curiosities/concerns:
- "The Bell LOL" - Igarashi-san and Mana both laughed when I brought this up, the team is aware of this concern and it is definitely a case of "WIP-itis". Basically long story short, some of the textures weren't even in yet, much less polish passes etc., so no reason to be concerned.
- "What happened to the starfish enemy?" - The Dullahammer Head did indeed take the place of the starfish, but that doesn't mean they won't be in the game somewhere else...
- "Background Lighting Changed?" - The cool lighting effects that we've all noticed in previous screenshots are not gone. Lighting is just something that is still very much "WIP"(work in progress) and you will see those effects and others return. (I saw a new effect and it was gorgeous...)
- "Can I do a clean start on Nightmare difficulty once I unlock it?" - Yes, once you unlock Nightmare difficulty, you don't have to bring over your gear and advantages from new game+, you will have the option to do so, however.
THE TRIP WAS A SUCCESS!
Everyone will be happy to know that all the work objectives of the trip were accomplished with flying colors.
I won't repeat exactly what Igarashi-san said because it's not my place to do so, but suffice it to say that he was very pleased with the work/plans presented to him, and I happily incorporated all of his feedback into the plans / projects etc.
He was even excited to incorporate a few requests, things that I KNOW everyone here is going to love...
We also worked closely with DICO, although that was more on the side of my excellent colleague who's a producer at 505. (one of the many amazing people working on the game)
PICTURES AND STORY TIME
We were busy most of the time focusing on the work, but I did manage to take a few pictures here and there...
Innocuous enough, but I thought it was pretty cool that I was standing in front of the building plaque that listed the ArtPlay office...
I have exchanged business cards with Igarashi-san, attaining the rare game item: "gold foil business card". 
Proof that it was Igarashi-san's business card. Don't worry, I've removed any personal contact info!
We join the team for a casual lunch...can you spot Igarashi-san?
Some free time, so I visit Akihabara! Check out the crazy long lines because it's "manga day" when all the new manga editions get released. Unfortunately I was unsuccessful in locating those fairy familiars for sale in the billboard you see in the picture. Maybe next trip.
Tons of shops with awesome collectibles, clothes and toys! Came across this statue of an anime angel with a sword tucked in her sleeve, no idea what it's from, but I'm going to find out!
HINTS OF THINGS TO COME
My colleagues and I were shown a lot of amazing progress and work the team is doing, and we can't wait to reveal more info and details in the near future. In the meantime...look forward to a KickStarter update coming soon, even more news down the road after that, and always remember to keep your eyes open no matter what...and ears...
P.S. - All the food was amazing, but I fell in love with ice cream sandwiches you can pick up from any convenience store...so crunchy on the outside, fluffy and light on the inside! :3

I could imagine those ice cream sandwiches, and believe you when you say that both the food was amazing and that the project is going great. About "He was even excited to incorporate a few requests", was that yours, ours or everyones? And I see a gun there, flintlock type? That business card have like.. A dagger or a sword too and.. A mask? Could it be about crafting guys? Oh, and I can't remember Miriam having something RED in her hair..? Hope to read more! Even though your week are "boring SKYPE" all day  |

Thanks for the write-up, Angel! Sounds like an awesome time. Did you...present it like "the bell lol" literally? I uh...well...they know I love them right? eek  And I see a gun there, flintlock type? Yeah this business card is definitely a teaser image lol. Let's see... From top to bottom/left to right: Definitely a bladed weapon, probably a dagger or sword. Glad to see the stained pattern show up again, I haven't seen that since the early concept art and nothing in-game yet. I loved the look of the blue-green stained glass weapons. The "mask" thing next to "mobile"...is what I'm least sure of. I don't recognize what that is...kind of looks like a chocobo face on top and a stained glass pattern on the bottom lol. No idea The two Miriams under ArtPlay in both languages...are costumes. The left is the demon outfit and the right is the angel. Yep. Don't know if it was Angel's direct idea or influence, but he's got it in there now hahaha...I'm feeling fairly confident on this. I could be wrong! Last thing is obviously a gun. It looks very much like the guns we saw before. Maybe he threw this in there to remind everyone that guns are still in, and they're going to make quite a bang when we know exactly what's going on with them. ehhh that pun was all right. Shot from the hip on that one. Good luck carrying all this stuff concealed, Angel D: Last side note Angel-Corlux ...I really do appreciate and feel you on the angel love. My appreciation of Castlevania is largely due to the holy weapons used fighting against evil, my main competitive pastime of Guilty Gear is due to Ky Kiske's Christian character design and I like Lenneth from Valkyrie Profile as much as I do largely due to how angelic she is. Valkyries are essentially Norse battle angels. It's mostly pretty rare for (at least positive) representations of holy powers in video games, so I take all I can get. |

As bummed out as I am about the dullhammer heads replacing the star enemies ( I just think the dullhammers aren't visually interesting in comparison) I think I get what you're hinting at with the Star enemy so I'm cool with that.
Glad you had a good time there and thanks for posting this
As far as a teaser image you peeps have good eyes cuz I'm not seeing swords or anything I'm seeing nothing except an image of Miriam that looks similar to the picture we got way back when we saw the final shader for the first time.

Angel probably already knew about a costume system and they had Angel and demon costumes because they're obvious choices lol Obvious choices indeed, but anything religious usually gets some kind of backlash from those in power as the existence of a God goes against the narrative they need for a communist takeover, Its why North Korea kills Christians, It's why any country under Sharia Law kills Christians, and it's why Hollywood won't fund any biblical movies even though they are guaranteed to make tons of money. Takes courage to put in religious items/costumes, and its that courage that gives me a lot more respect for those involved in Bloodstained |

that courage that gives me a lot more respect for those involved in Bloodstained Castle from hell. Demons. Magic. We just need an angel, the rest is already in the game. Holy weapons are almost a given, same with "dark". |

Okay so....seeing the teaser image on a computer is a lot easier than on a damn mobile phone. I see the flintlock, and the tease of two costumes or something ( that's an assumption as you don't see the body just the head)... the stain-glassed thing which I don't know what that is and the other image which again I don't know what that is.
Maybe all of it will be in the next update which would be exciting. We're certainly do for a FEATURE update.

It's not a crafting material either...
Thanks for the reference! I'm going to start watching that anime as soon as I finish Hellsing Ultimate (I had only watched the original, didn't know about the more modern one)

I know what that pic is.... it's a shield. Duh ;P Makes sense. We have seen swords in the past using that texture on the left side. So if that is a weapon, a shield or some type of magic barrier would make sense. At the same time, we have a gun below, so it could mean things for the gun. Modifiers (materials) for either bullets, bullet themselves or for our alchemy purpose. Miriam have a bit more red on her left image, and more blue on her right. Also, a type of horn or something is sticking out. If this is not a costume, perhaps it is a powerful Miriam, the one we might see with lots of shards? |

Craftable Ice cream sandwiches? Having that in just because would be neat (temporary fire resist and heal, maybe). Also, if one is a sword, wouldn't the other be considered a whip (long stretch, so I am just guessing from the vagueness of it)?
