The Belmonts are the legendary hero family of Castlevania, and all of them (except poor Sonya) has at least one mighty theme song associated with them. So the question of the day is, of course, which of these legendary heroes has the BEST theme? Below I've included a link to a version of every Belmont's major theme, just in case some don't recognize songs by name. It should be noted that many of these songs have had multiple renditions through the years, (and I made a point to only pick in-game versions) so if your favorite version of a theme is not the one I picked, or if you know about a badass fan made arrangement, absolutely share your favorite version. I simply chose the versions I did to keep the themes on a fairly equal playing field in terms of quality, but if your favorite theme is Simon's and your favorite version is the classic SNES theme from SCIV, let us know! The Themes of House Belmont:Leon Belmont-Lament of Innocence: a haunting, tragic theme for a man who lost everything Trevor Belmont-Beginning: A fittingly triumphant theme for the first man to defeat Dracula Christopher Belmont-Battle of the Holy: A driving song for a man who would face Dracula twice and save his beloved son Simon Belmont-Dance of the Holy Man: Only this powerful building anthem could fit the man who killed Dracula alone at the height of his strength, then brought him back and killed him again whist dying from a curse Juste Belmont-Successor of Fate-A mysterious theme for the mystically inclined Grandson of Simon Belmont Richter Belmont-Divine Bloodlines: This theme fits the legendary status of Richter Belmont, a Belmont so awesome his ghost can kick your ass, as Jonathan Morris discovered Julius Belmont-Heart of Fire: For the man who killed Dracula once and for all we have an amazing remix of two of the most classic themes in the series So, my fellow soldiers of the night, Which Belmont theme shall prevail!? Simon Belmont's theme hands down man. The way the song builds is fantastic, It starts with a triumphant burst, then prepares to tell a story and builds up again. It sounds good along with the action of the setting in the game from the moment Simon enters, the song isn't over bearing, and it doesn't feel out of place, the sound is apealing and, considerate to the overall vibe of the level and helps set a mood for the game. Richters theme from Rondo of Blood is a real close second.

Hmm kinda hard to choose between Simon's and Juste's. But I'll give my vote to Simon this time. Trust me, if this poll allowed two votes, the other vote would definitely have been for Juste.

Lament of Innocence ~ Leon's Theme is my personal favorite.
The music exudes a palpable desire for bloody vengeance against the vampire lord who cursed Leon's betrothed. I was perfectly motivated to exterminate Walter.

My favorite by far ins't listed: it's bloody tears, from Castlevania II's Bloody Tears.
It's amazing how well the 8-bit famicom/NES version holds up to this day.
I guess you could call it Simon Belmont's second theme?
There's a reason why it's been featured so much throughout the series - it's so iconic people don't even associate it with Castlevania II anymore, but rather with the series in general.

Actually dareka, when Bloody Tears is considered a theme for a Belmont, it actually goes to Sonia as that was her opening stage music. Simon's second theme is actually the one listed above, the Theme of Simon Belmont/Dance of the Holy Man; until it was composed, his theme was considered to be the first stage music ever - Vampire Killer. |
