Poll: Miriam impaled by crystalsHow often do you want her to scream in agony when a crystalshard is thrusting into her chest? Some might be annoyed, others might find it kind of cool. Since shards only trigger her scream when they are new (and any other crystal from same monsters thereafter will not let her scream in pain) there is already a limit. Thanks. Also, Check Pure Miriam Poll: Shards drop rate here!Some other suggestions- She screams differently depending on the power the shards beholds. (choose 'Every impale')
- She only screams with special shards, like from bosses or even passives "only". (choose 'Random impale')
Update
- The scream will be the same voice fx to all NEW shards and will not be triggered as frequent as the E3 demo showed since the rating of shards were higher to let the testers, gamers and press have less grinding.
- Since they will use the same voice fx, and to some it might be tedious (not to most of us), they might concider a toggle option in the settings, but no promises.

I like option 4 in the poll. It gives the player the choice to set it however he or she sees fit.

I like her scream when she is impaled by shards and i voted "every impale". I just think the game could have 4~5 different screams for her and then randomly selects one at every new shard. So, it wouldn't be annoying or get old quick. But if it stays as it is now, i will like it too.

But for moi its not such a big deal:D It actually is ONLY when you get a new Shard. The thing is, the demo seems to have a high drop rate, because the player easily farm new shards there.

Yeah, please make it RNG.. I imagine this voice FX to be repatitive, or maybe they should implement 2 different noises that Miriam can make during the crystal absorption

Might sound sadistic but I like the fact that its so apparent she's in pain from this curse, and that partaking of it is agonizing. It makes her stand out from the more willing heroes we've had in 'vanias past. Power at a price is nearly always more interesting and compelling than a character who just gets to fling around magic willy nilly. It also just tells us something about Miriam with no actual explanation: She's COMMITTED to this mission, to stopping the demons and saving the land, even though it brings her great pain. That's a pure expression of selflessness given to us by a freaking gameplay mechanic. its an intertwining of gameplay and narrative, and the best games come about when gameplay and narrative work with each other as opposed to being more "seperate".

Weak: Ouch! Minor: Ugh! Medium: Ugh, aarrhg Strong: Aaaaaarghha Powerful: ThisThat would make like a fun trivia actually, depending on the painful scream, you can judge it's power. But having a few random shouts that play on each or random thrusts into chest would make up for it too. Really like your idea though!

So, it wouldn't be annoying or get old quick. But if it stays as it is now, i will like it too. I thought they were done with the voice recording at this point which would mean if they don't have the assets for it, then it's unlikely to happen. The idea of a few different screams for variety here would be welcome though.

I imagine when it's a brand new shard she might make a sound but if it's one you've gotten it stops making sounds. I'm probably wrong but I'd be fine with this.

I don't see a reason why it shouldn't happen every time. It's not annoying and I think there's something cathartic about it given that shard are probably pretty uncommon.

I totally and completely agree with you! We need to remember that her powers are a curse. Magi-curse. Miriam was cursed. She is a beacon to attract demons from hell itself and found a way to harness that as a power against them. She didn't want to have that power, hell, she was a child when that happened. She lost her whole teenager years with the curse slowly maturing inside her. She is a tragic heroine, that is acepting the burden of having huge shards being impaled right at her chest, every single time, in order to painfully absorb them and use them as powers against the demons. All that to stop her old friend (Gebel). She is not a vampire with natural dark powers. She is not a warrior from a holy family, nor a witch with powers based on her intelect. She is a cursed young woman shattering shards inside her heart to power herself up for a cause she is committed to. Great comment BloodyTears92 . It totally makes sense. Busterific you are right on that. If that is the case, then, i would like if they let as it is now.

I'm not a big fan of the scream, but I'm okay with the idea of it either happening randomly, OR you only getting the scream with pre-placed crystals, not randomly dropped ones (so ones you get from bosses, mostly). That's not an option on the poll, but that'd also work for me.

Even if they made it every single time, it would be patched out with how many people who say something. I'd grunt in pain too if a giant piece of glass were shoved into my gut every time.
