I'm totally biting my tongue here.
I'll just say that I think the peak of maturity is embracing the friendly/harmless elements of both maturity AND Immaturity at times, with excess of neither. For example. Many old folks who are kind of...dense... believe that videogames are for kids only, and kids growing up an such an environment may proudly proclaim their maturity by advertising they grew 'beyond' videogames....But a truly mature person can admit that videogames have their place if someone enjoys them, but can also recognize the other priorities that are more important when they are applicalbe (instead of pretending like they are 24/7 when they really aren't).

I say toot instead of fart but I don't really know of any 'mature' way of staying it at all to be honest. I mean there's flatulence but nobody says THAT. I think most people say poop instead of poopy. but uhh.. well I call cute dogs doggies, and cats kitties *shrugs*.
That said I don't meant to think only mature people like videogames, which would be dumb... just that it's immature to think videogames are only enjoyed by the immature, and it takes some level of maturity, to admit you like them even if you're exposed to such an upbringing.

I grew up in an era where thee majority thought video games were strictly for kids. there were no ratings in those times cause if a gme came out it was assumed it was for kids period. but as those kids grew up they changed gaming... and so on and so forth. still there are "set-in-their-ways" people who still refuse to think games are or can be for adults. I had to fight for video games and anime being more than just "for kids" (and 4kids did not make it easy) things are changing... people are opening their thoughts to being able to see anime and games as just a form of media that conveys a story like books, movies and TV. I hope more people see this as a truth rather than a theory... ps poopy

Video games, anime, manga, etc are all forms of entertainment, much like reading a novel, or watching a movie. Thinking that they're only for kids is so very close-minded, and irritates me to no end. I'm in agreement with you 120%.

"the elderly are a wealth of information." I feel bad that most kid shows and cartoons these days are portraying adults and the elderly as stupid and unreliable... even in anime where an adult is an idiot, they come thought with precious advice when the characters truly need it.

Anime can be so incredibly deep, "mature" adults don't know what they're missing.

Anime can be so incredibly deep, "mature" adults don't know what they're missing. Ummm.... I'm an adult... 35yr old in fact I know. You're an actual mature adult. The other "mature" adults who think games&anime are for kids are the ones missing out. Some animes deal with heavy subjects, and you can learn some life lessons too. Not to say all animes are like that, some are purely for comedy, but the same can apply to movies. And WAIT. How did a topic about pumpkin style bloomers suddenly turn into this?!

My fault. I believe in topics 'growing' into other/related ones... some forum communities accept and/or embrace this... some do not.. this one is too new for me to really know which.

I was thinking the same thing LOL but the topic goes where it wants... yes, they are missing out. but there are some people, old or young. that can't get past the fact that what is on the screen is NOT REAL and so that "barrier" prevents them from taking away any meaningful message. I love anime and I love how they "teach" kids, young teens, teens and adults lessons (at least a lot of them do) I don't know the names of the anime but my favorite one was about a female demon lord and a hero trying to revitalize the country... it taught me what the importance/meaning of stocks and bonds. and one anime (for a younger audience) taught the periodic table (I wish that anime was around when I was in middle school)
