I beat Doom 1 and now I'm onto Doom 2. They are really ramping up the a-hole levels with this one. I was stuck on Map 10 for a fair bit due to lack of ammo and apparently that was done on purpose. Not to mention that they just stick a Cyber Demon in that map at the end for no reason. Thankfully I figured out when to quick save. Now I'm on map 12 back on Earth. There are 30(or so) maps in this game and once I beat this I'm moving on to Blood and then after that Shadow Warrior.

Dragon_of_Dojima: I do have a copy of Blood, but that is a world above Doom in terms of difficulty. I don't really like it, I want to like it but I tried several times, and there are too many hitscanning enemies that deal TONS of damage, plus the weapons feel a bit underpowered. I mean, three point blank shots from the shotgun to kill a zombie? And I have to wait him getting up after every shot? Ugh, talk about annoying. I wonder why that game can't click with me. I love Duke 3D for example. I wonder. I have a fairly big backlog. Right now I'm playing Doom 64 EX on the PC (which is a fantastic addition to the Doom series), Gravity Rush Remastered on PS4 and The Evil Within on Steam. This last one has been paused for a long while because I bought a PS4 in the meantime and I was captivated lol but now I wanna finish it.

I completed Portrait of Ruin. Awesome game of course. Last saturday I started playing Order of Ecclesia for my second time. I haven't played it since 2009. Damn is it ever hard compared to Portrait of Ruin.

I've been playing Dark Rose Valkyrie.
As far as Compile Heart/Idea Factory games go, not saying their other games are bad or anything, this one is my favorite. The characters and event scenes have beautiful art, the soundtrack is really good, the combat is intriguing, and story isn't bad. It isn't perfect by any means but it's better than the reviews it is receiving in the west (4/10 or 5/10). The Famitsu score was 32/40 (80%) for reference.
So, DRV is a decent game that obvious appeals more to some than others. It could be better but isn't bad either. Admittedly, the game did crash a few times in the first couple of days I got it. However, for some reason, the crashes seemed to have fixed themselves. Even after I started over.

Tonight I completed Doom 64 EX. Fantastic game, solid shooter with amazing horror atmosphere. I haven't really scratched that itch for classic FPSs though, so I realized that I've been on E3M3 of Heretic: Shadow of the Serpent Riders for a while. Time to finish that one.The idea to apply the Doom mechanics and engine to a fantasy world was really awesome, kudos to whoever had it first. Everything is really cool, and the game is tough as nails.

I have been playing Custom Battler Bomberman (Also known as Bomberman 2, but that title just creates confusion anyway, due to the actual Bomberman 2 and other Bomberman games with 2 in the title) on the Nintendo DS.
It's very interesting. Unlike most Bomberman games, you get items to equip, you level up (which means you can use better equipment, since there's a limit to what equips you can you use depending on your level). These items upgrade your stats differently, and are each useful on different situations. Some may give you new abilities if you equip them, or if you equip them along with some other equipment. You can go back on stages as much as you want, and sometimes you need to if you want some equipment that you couldn't get previously because you lacked an ability that could grant you access to said equip.
It's a fun game, although there's no much to it, I honestly believe it could be incremented.
The idea is simple, and I would love to see Konami exploring these alternative Bomberman games since they're bringing the series back. Bomberman has always worked very nicely with experimentational gameplay changes, due to the basics going down to the gameplay and character mechanics itself. In a way not unlike Kirby. On a side note, it's still so weird for me to get used to the fact that Konami owns Bomberman now, especially since they never did anything with it until Super Bomberman R.

I recently finished a playthrough of KonoSuba: Revival of Verdia on PC on very hard difficulty. You can watch it here:
I recommend watching the anime if you haven't, it's hilarious.

I've been Playing Fate/Grand Order now available in North America.
I don't know how to feel with Hercules (Beserker) and Carmilla (assassin) as my top servants.

I've only got Episode 5 of Heretic to complete.
I've been continuing The Evil Within. The game is really hard and sometimes frustrating, but its aesthetic is really good. Sort of medium ground between Resident Evil and Silent Hill. I have to do Chapter 11 ATM.
Courtesy of Steam sales, I am also playing Darkest Dungeon and Hollow Knight. The latter is sucking up most of my spare time, it's honestly that good. One of the best metroidvanias I've ever played (I played a lot!). Darkest Dungeon is a bit complex and stressing, it's awesome but I have to be calm to play it. Right now I have to face a difficult exam so I tend to play only relaxing games, this is also why I've been mostrly playing Hollow Knight and not the other games in this few days.

I just purchased Pokemon Pinball for the Wii U's Virtual Console. Played it for about 20 minutes, still as fun and somewhat frustrating as I remember. I remember it playing it and having fun years and years ago, but since I never owned it... what the hey, might as well have it on the Wii U.
Shame it was never "released" for the 3DS' Virtual Console, tho'. Don't understand why they keep releasing portable games in a home console but eh, I can deal with that.

I have been playing the upcoming old school FPS Dusk. You can play episode 1 (of 3) if you preorder the game, which should be out on October 31st. Absolutely fantastic FPS, it's incredibly solid and atmospheric with perfect mobility and gunplay. It's like the 90s never stopped and devs from that era acquired additional mysterious tools to make even more amazing games. Can't wait for the full experience.
I am also playing Wolfenstein The Old Blood, it looks like an extremely solid expansion in these two chapters that I played.

- Rust - Mostly solo, and on PvEPvP servers. EU. Just wanna build
- Freedom Planet - Soon finished it, but not story mode!
- Diablo III - Necromancer Pack - Pretty fun again, taking breaks from it. Were a newswriter a while back, covering D3 news.
- One Finger Death Punch - Looks like crap, but crazy fun once you learn the moveset (using only two mousebuttons)
- Overwatch - Growing tired of it, play only vs AI. Why? Less toxic, less xp, but more wins and more fun in that way. EU.
- Insanely Twisted Shadow Planet - Only a few minutes, looks cool.

Three games I've been dividing my time with lately:
Zelda: Breath of the Wild - I haven't finished it yet. I've got all divine beasts conquered, and at 98 shrines unlocked. But I haven't fought Calamity Ganon yet. I've been taking my time with this title and am enjoying the world exploration for more shrines and korok seeds. Eventually I'd like to go through the ending and then work on the DLC.
Tekken 7 - I've been playing fighting games for a long time now, since the early arcade days. I wasn't really a Tekken fan before, but with the failure of Street Fighter 5's gameplay and lack of features, I decided to try out Tekken 7. I was pleasantly surprised how fun the game is, and the overall polish and completeness of it is. I just got to Grand Master ranked online, which took a while for me.
Final Fantasy 7 - Yup, on my old PS1. I play this game through about once every few years, and about 3 months ago my co-workers and I were having a conversation about the game and I decided to play it again. I think the game still holds up. Even the characters; I do think there is a charm to that low-polygon segmented character art. The music is still great, and the storyline is still interesting. Materia is also a great system for abilities and magic. I'm looking forward to the remastered version.

Because I suppose you could label me as one of those "patient" gamers, I just finished Yakuza 4. Before that I beat Doom 1, 2(which took forever), Quake 1(which also took forever), and I guess Batman the Telltale series season 1. I still have nightmares and day dreams of dodging those ogre grenades in Quake 1. Ugh...what a ride that game was. I don't think I'll play a better old school shooter like that. Too bad it glitched on me to where it made me lose all of the items. So I couldn't fight the final boss, but I learned that the final boss involved pushing two blocks and walking through a portal. I think I'm good. Also yes, I did try the command console and looking up a fix. Nothing. I didn't feel like starting over either, I wanted to move on to Quake 2 which is what I'm currently playing. It took me a while to answer that question, huh? So yeah, Quake 2 right now and the original Paper Mario. I'm on chapter 3 in PM and the torture prison in Quake 2. I might start Yakuza 5 later, I think I need a slight break. It's exciting to finally play that series with the new engine. It won't be full potential until the PS4 games Zero and Kiwami, but I'll take what I can get until we can get some enhanced ports. My shooter summer is going to extend into winter as well. My list got too ambitious and I had to cut a few titles like Blood and Shadow Warrior. Those will be for next year. Turok/Turok 2, Sin, Unreal, and Half-Life will be finished by the end of this year. That's a promise. If I break this promise, I'll change my name to "Punished Kiryu" and put a really terrible picture as my avatar. I'll even throw in a self-deprecating signature if someone would help me make one.

My marathon might be impossible for me as far as keeping my attention fully for all the games I had planned, but I can still get the ones I mentioned done. I beat Quake 2 just now. Next up is Sin. The idea for this FPS marathon was to go by the year it was made. That way, I can see how the genre has evolved, get better at it, see if I really prefer old school to new school, and to scratch that itch. I won't bother with expansion packs, I'm going through the regular games. Sin Gold should be a tough one though. EDIT Sin Thoughts: I beat SiN gold and it was a tough one. There were a few puzzles in the beginning that I NEVER would have figured out without looking it up. One required you to "use" some bricks to escape a death trap and another required you to look up without any indication to shoot down something to progress through a level. Both of these are illogical to the point being from a point and click adventure game...and I beat Sam and Max. It's still a fantastic game and very underrated. It felt like the second half(especially the ending levels) were rushed to try and get the game out to market because they were all short. Compared to the beginning game which was intricate, detailed, and large. It's on GOG right now. There's an "episodic sequel" called SiN Episodes on steam which only got ONE episode and was cancelled due to Valve pulling the plug on the whole episodic deal they had going on at the time. What a shame, this series's downfall was Half-Life stomping out the competition(first game) and then Valve finished them off unintentionally(second game). Enough history. The next game is Turok. I'm going with the remastered version on steam. After that is Unreal, then Turok 2, and then Half-Life. If I beat all of these before holiday, I'll squeeze in Return to Castle Wolfenstein as well. EDIT 2 Turok thoughts: Turok was more of a key hunt than I expected. In fact, it felt more like a collect-a-thon than an FPS at times. I didn't get the Chronosepter, but I had enough firepower to hold my own. Not to mention I had more lives than I needed. Yes, a lives system and no quick saves. The horror... I didn't like the platforming despite it being superfluous in the end. Other than that it's a solid game. I recommend playing the remastered version if you haven't already. The game was over before I knew it. Next up is Unreal.

Awesome game. Took me around 8 hours to get 100% on my first playthrough. This game surprisingly kicked my ass with all the deaths even though I've played through almost all the 2D Metroid games, even AM2R. Gonna go play Fusion Mode now. It irks me that they locked it behind amiibos but there are ways around that now.
