I'm temporarily off Gravity Rush Remastered in order to play Dawn of Sorrow yet again for New Years' day. Ah, I love the atmosphere of the Lost Village.

Lately, i discovered some amazing fangames, one of them even nominated for best fan made creations of 2016, before Nintendo blotted it out of the voting list... Somehow, those are so well made that you barely notice they are not professional work.
1. Streets of Rage Remake V5.1 2. AM2R (Another Metroid 2 Remake)
And a couple or more that i am going to omit, because some people consider them childish (even though one of them actually isn't). All of them received a cease and desist (1. from Sega 2. from Nintendo) but thankfully, all of them save No2 above, survived in newly formed communities and keep being updated, every now and then. Those i omit even have online functionality, connectivity and play, among players from the world all over! And all this, completely free!
There is also a Touhou game spin-off, which is a castlevania crossover and i want to play it badly, even though it is very hard... Touhouvania 1 and 2! They simply look gorgeous, they are the best!

Holy freaking sh*t I'd never have thought that I would enjoy Persona 4 Golden this much!!! It is one of the most alive game I've played! Everything seems like it is not trying to be edgy and really wants to teach me something about life or something without me knowing it! Oh and the gameplay is freaking amazing! One of the best turned-based RPGs I have ever played! If you have not played it give it a shot and if you have a PS Vita then you MUST have the game on that system!

Right now I'm playing the EFF out of Xenoblade Chronicles X. Ironically, I've owned it for the longest time but the fact I had NO IDEA what I was doing (game does a very poor job of telling you ANYTHING AT ALL) made me leave it for a while... then Monster Hunter Generations happened and I kindda forgot about it. Then Generations ran its course and I remembered.
And I found a discord chat with experts on the game.
So needless to say, now that I KINDDA know what I'm doing, I'm actually enjoying it a lot. The story is all right, and the cahracters are a bit cliched, but they work for what the story is supposed to be (a classic japanese space opera). It has lots and lots AND LOTS of grinding (which I like) and the world is just so vast and massive and ALIVE. It genuinely feels (and looks) like one HUGE massive world out there just waiting to be explored and discovered. And you do that ON A FRIGGIN' MECHA! THAT TRANSFORMS! That's effin' awesome!
Fighting is still kind of an unbalanced mess (basically, 60% of the things you can use out there are poop, 25% work, 10% are actually good, and about 5% can be used to beat everything post-game) and there are very few combinations that actually WORK the whole game overall. But once you discover a wining combination and you start taking down post-game high level enemies... man, it's SO FRIGGIN' satisfying. Do yourself a favour a grab a copy if you like JRPGs... and if you do, remember to IMMEDIATELY go to the discord channel and ask what are you supposed to do.

- PWI (long-time player, daily) - Fallen London (daily) and Sunless Sea (less often) - Tales of Zestiria (The rage toward this game is too much) - FF X+X-2 Remaster - Epic Battle Fantasy III (It's a superb tribute to RPGs of yore!) - Pony Island (A seriously messed-up game!)
And a few others. Some games are postponed for a while, including some Final Fantasy entries (LR, Crisis Core, Chronicles, III, IV the After Years, etc.).
Planned: - Epic Battle Fantasy IV - Shantae and the Pirates' Curse - VA-11 Hall-A Cyberpunk Bartender Action - Undertale - Bionic Commando Rearmed and the sequel. Etc.

Right now I'm playing Shovel Knight: Specter of Torment. I played a demo of it at PAX earlier this year and enjoyed it, and I'm having a great time with the rest of the game. My only real gripe is that just like with Shovel Knight, certain abilities and alt colors are linked together (ugh), but as a fan of American comics and Willem Dafoe's acting career I'm having some fun with this color. (Spoiler'd for size.) "FIRST WE ATTACK HIS HEART!"

I'm playing Bayonetta's fabulous PC Port. In fact, it's so fabulous that I can't practice in the practice rooms anymore due to it loading so fast. I had to ask platinum if they could add a practice room in the menu/submenu. I already beat this game on 360 so if anything I'm going to use it to practice dodge offsets...a skill which I wish I knew about ages ago. I could also practice parrying, even though I don't exactly need it.
I'm also playing Persona 5 on the side. Not much to say at the moment because I haven't done much of anything.
I beat Nier and thought it was a glorious, middle market JRPG. I also read the Grimoire Nier short stories. All of them were interesting, disturbing, and/or sad with some of them being kind of funny. Right after doing all of this I nabbed Nier Automata. I don't know when I'll start playing but it could be very soon.

Well. I finished my play of Persona 5. All in all, it is a great game. I had a blast going through it. To be fair, I did alot of save and load stuff so that I could maximize my char's stat and social links (which I barely managed to pull off). The question here remains if I want to for a 2nd playthrough to finish up the compedium. How this game stacks up with P3 and 4? I don't care. When I play, I want to enjoy myself and this game delivered as far as my expectations go.
I'll be playing Skyrim again, just to avoid a complete burn out on my 2nd playthrough.

I just finished the Plague Knight DLC for Shovel Knight. I had fun and I liked mixing and matching the different types of bombs, but I enjoyed Specter knight more and I think playing that first felt like a mistake.
Now I'm going though my Steam library plowing through games I bought on sale and forgot about, just throwing things at the wall and seeing what sticks. I played Out There Somewhere and had fun, but got frustrated with timing and precision to the point where it was getting stressful. I tried Aerannis, but I wasn't really having fun with how it did 2D stealth gameplay. I got a couple of hours into Rex Rocket, but wasn't really feeling it and stopped.

There's a Japanese old NDS game called 7th Dragon, and it's a pretty nice game.
It's similar to Pokémon Mystery Dungeon with its quest system, but not on the gameplay. The overworld is open, you can go wherever you want to, including dungeons (although some places are blocked, but you would most certainly die if went to these places anyway). But it's not really safe. What I like is the skill system, you can choose attributes and skills, building your character in the desired way. No need to worry about old weapons either.
Mine is a girl with a whip. She can intimidate enemies and demand their obedience. And do a ton of other cool things, like healing herself too. It feels really good to feel in complete control over your character.
It also feels nice on how the game handles your freedom, you can make a complete party, or play the game with only one character. The leveling up feels really gratifying just because you can choose what skills you want to learn and what stats to give an increase. So it always feels nice, because it's not just leveling up and getting more defense and attack or something too basic.
Although the game overall has a style meant to replicate older games. I like how there's no much focus on the story, you can stay playing and training your character to get better stats, explore, and the plot (which is rather simple and doesn't get in the way of the game at all) with no worries. There's no one to bother you if you want to do that. Your character doesn't talk, but since the game is light on overall plot, it works very well, it feels like your , of which you have complete control over and whose personality and quirks are up to your mind. I like this, it kinda makes you think of how your character would be, what would be their motivations and so on. The only thing that's missing is that you don't make your character design, but you can pick from various options for each class. Which is really nice.
It feels fun and hooks you in. Although it's not for everyone, and it's not exactly too easy. Although I'm used to it, once you get the hang of it, it becomes really enjoyable, and you feel your character growth with each level up. This is really important, there are some games in which you level up, either in a hard way or easy way, but it doesn't feel particularly satisfying. In this game it's always great, you get some points to add your desired stats and skills. It's not too easy, so it feels earned, but it's good enough to feel like it's worth it.
I wish there more games with this kind of mechanic.
Does anyone know something similar? It's really enjoyable.

MorningSun I know of the series, and I actually have the demo for the newest game downloaded on my 3DS. Haven't tried it yet, but those systems and gameplay sound great to me. I also see that Yuzo Koshiro composed the OST for that game eh? Nice! Level-ups with stats and skills...well, that's more of a western styled level up system, really. Japanese RPGs tend to automate or randomize the improvement of a character's strength on level-ups, with a few hybrid exceptions (one of which being the Souls games we all love, and especially Nioh - but those level-ups don't power you up as much as per se getting more skilled with what you have and weapon upgrades). For specifically stats and skills in an action RPG, several Metroidvania games do that, Valdis Story comes to mind. At its core, the whole manual/meaningful level-up is very classic D&D though, so you'd see that in games that were inspired by that, like Blizzard's Diablo games. A lot of people prefer one leveling system over the other...I think it depends on the genre and feel of the game. Castlevania isn't as much about the depth of combat abilities that skill trees bring about, and stats aren't a huge factor either, so the simple level-ups works great to not complicate matters. The way they work, the explorative nature of the game makes your experience what it is rather than powering up through levels. Some games are the opposite by design. Anyway, I'm curious to check 7th Dragon out now. Apparently an English fan translation was done a few years ago.

My plan for this summer is all sorts of shooting games.
Once Doom and Half-Life(1 and 2) go on sale, then I'll start my journey. Hopefully the Quake games go on sale too, but I won't hold my breath. I'll start with Doom 1 and 2, and go from there. There will be Blood. There will be Wolfenstein. There will be Shadow Warrior. There will be BULLETS!!

This game isn't really that difficult, but it can be a challenge to keep everyone alive. I'm going to retry it without a single character-death next time.

I recently finished Symphony of the Night, which was my sixth Castlevania game I've finished, and now I can't fill this hole in my heart until I can get my hands on another copy of Order of Ecclesia _(:3」∠)_
Let's see, right now I'm playing Persona 3, Fate/Extra CCC, and Final Fantasy IX. My priority is on Extra CCC simply because I finished Fate/Extra pretty recently too, and that was a game that was pretty addicting. I'm using Caster like I did for my one and only run of Fate/Extra, but I'm using a translation that went for Gilgamesh, and so far it's been mostly similar apart from some dialogue.
