Yeah, it feels very Platinum. I like the perspective changes (the game's camera changes it from 3D action to 2.5, and even top down - going from a DMC game to something like Contra, and lastly something like Contra III's top down levels). When all of the enemy bullets appear, it's your cue to start firing yourself...
The controls will take some time to get used to for most, but I think the game has a lot of potential. From the status screen, it appears you'll be able to use a lot of different gear/customize your pod to do/have different things. It's essentially like a Gradius option that follows you around.

Play the first Nier and, if you have time, Drakengard 1 and Drakengard 3 (The second game was made by another team without any involvement of Yoko Taro, the original creator of the series and director of the others). They share the same world, and while the story isn't connected, there will be some references that you might lose if you haven't played the other games. And btw, do not expect badass gameplay, they weren't developed by Platinum Games. Actually, the games are rather lackluster in this aspect, but you might like the their plot lol. |

I just watched some video summaries of the series so I got the background info for this game. I was already aware of Nier because I watched a lets play of it from one of the youtubers I like to watch. I feel very bored. Have no fun game at all. Might just play some old games.. I am very bad in most games, and dislike multiplayer games. So yeah. Got no idea what to play. Made a bunch of igavania and metroidvania games on the list here on the forums, but can't go around and buy all of them just to try out. Meeh.

The newest Metroivania game are the DS games which can be emulated. Of course, I support wanting to buy the games. I own a PC and a PSP. might get back to SOTN on PSP. Never played DS-titles since I do not own a DS. There are plenty games for PC, but I dunno. I feel that not much can beat SotN, which is odd, since I played GBA: Dawn of Sorrow and loved it. I guess the Aria of Sorrow made me feel sad I never could play it. |
