I think Dracula's Castle captures and modernizes very well the 8-bit rock-centric themes of the NES Castlevanias No one has mentioned Bloodlines (Stage 1) from Rondo of Blood
Alucard's entrance into Dracula's castle will always be my all time favorite as, in my opinion, Symphony of the Night is a gem from Castlevania's legacy. Although, I am waiting forth to see how the music will be introduced in Bloodstained, where you will be at this time, what you will do or deal with...
Now that I see this thread again, I can't help but go back and listen to certain Entrance themes over & over again...when I could be playing one of the games and enjoying the Entrance theme in it.
Curse you, Alucard!

For your convenience, I made a playlist of all Castle Entrance themes of 2D Castlevanias from 8 bit era up to Order of Ecclesia. Enjoy

Invitation of a Crazed Moon is the best. It's a very different tone than the rest of the games in the series, which fits PoR's tone being much lighter than most of the other games save for DoS. It's adventurous and bold, but it still hints and danger and mystery. Also the cover of it in Harmony of Despair is amazing, with its rad grunge guitar at the start.

It's really a bit of a tie for me, but I think PoR slightly beats out the others by sounding the most like the earliest games in the series. Not as in the usual remixes you get in each game, but rather I feel the music fits the themes for 1-3 so closely that I wouldn't have been shocked if you said the PoR soundtrack was new music being added to them for whatever reason.
I gotta admit it's a tough choice for me between symphony of the night and aria of sorrow, though my favorite music will always be Bloody Tears, especially some of the remix versions,in fact I love a lot of the remix castlevania music
They are all good, but I like Harmony of Dissonance's castle entrance theme the most. This one just hits the right chords on me. Starts with an intro, then the tempo speeds up and plays a wonderful melody that, as how I can describe it, inspires a comfortable and secure sense of hope in front of a seemingly insurmountable feeling of oncoming dread, in the most effective way compared to the rest.
In another way for HoD, the quality of the music matches the quality of the graphics. The "8-bit" music layered on top of its rather SNES-like color pallette just makes sense to me.
OoE's An Empty Tome is a very close second if not simply tied for first. Hmm... I must have been the only one who thought Prologue was actually OoE's castle entrance theme.... seems consistent with all the others to me, but I digress

First castlevania game I played I think was circle of the moon. My first ds game was portrait of ruin and it's my favorite igavania first level theme. My favorite castlevania 3d theme is Abandoned Castle from curse of darkness, looking foward to the music of bloodstained.
Redogan: Some people are gonna get to eat a meal and play some games with IGA! Awesome!

LeoLeWolferoux: Sooo... I guess some dude on Twitter stumbled across a financial document from 505 games indicating that a '2nd version' of Bloodstained was in the works??? back sometime in like 2021???
Apr 15, 2023 21:00:49 GMT -6
LeoLeWolferoux: How am I just now finding out about this/ C'mon, IGN. Get it together.
Apr 15, 2023 21:01:12 GMT -6
LeoLeWolferoux: Dunno how this Twitter user came across these documents, tho, assuming since they don't know any further details, it wasn't someone *from* 505 Games. I certainly hope it was obtained via legal means...
Apr 15, 2023 21:02:13 GMT -6
XombieMike: Shortly after 505 let that document go public the official Bloodstained twitter confirmed there will be a second game. ArtPlay is finishing Bloodstained DLC and then we will learn more about the next game.

Redogan: Any ideas on when we get the rest of the updates? I'm still waiting on my physical copy with everything on it for my CV collection.
Aug 23, 2023 12:48:28 GMT -6
Redogan: Nice to see a project update! I like the new Classic 2.0 mode with Dominique. Looks like it plays like a traditional CV game--which is a good thing. Glad to see some gameplay video of Chaos and VS modes, too!
Sept 6, 2023 18:16:32 GMT -6
ShroudedTraveler: Did they say when they were releasing the update with Dominique? I don't recall seeing anything in the video, so I'm assuming not
Sept 7, 2023 16:40:01 GMT -6
Redogan: I didn't see anything about the release date. I just know that it is paid DLC. (So, us backers don't get it for free. Which is fine.)
Sept 8, 2023 16:54:52 GMT -6
ShroudedTraveler: Yeah. At this point, with the game being as old as it is, I'd be fine paying for the content.
Sept 12, 2023 19:00:02 GMT -6
XombieMike: Classic mode 2 will be canon!

Ciel: Been a long time since I last logged here, but it seems that until we get any news of a sequel, there won't be much to discuss. Oh well!

purifyweirdshard: The discord is certainly where the activity is, but we'll keep this forum up and running as long as we can. Bloodstained's subreddit also still moves along pretty well
