In SOTN they seemed to change the background colors to more of a purplish or bluish look. It was simple but I liked that. With the Bloodstained environment being rendered in full 3D I believe they can still do something even more beautiful without doubling the work. Below I photoshopped an image of the village. I changed the colors, saturated them a bit, highlighted some areas and added phosphorous-like lights to some of the plant life. I also lit up a couple of windows too that shine outward. Overall it gives the scene an otherworldly or surreal look. I think they could do simple things like this with the Unreal engine. The procedural texture generator would also be handier than ever in this case. It could do a different pass over the environment with sheer ease. And mirror it, not do an up-side-down. Had to add my images after I posted. I kinda like inverted over mirrored. I makes it all feel weird and disorienting like it should be.

My idea on that: bloodstainedfanforums.com/post/32943/threadAfter getting the true ending from the original 1600+ room castle, Gebel (or whoever is the true main antagonist) curses the castle fully, which in turn creates, destroys and otherwise changes areas with crystal/stained glass growths everywhere. Their aim in doing this is to trap you in the castle as it sinks or descends back to where it came, so your goal is reversed in escaping the castle rather than getting to the heart of it, say, back to the Minerva...where one last time, main villain tries to head you off as you make your final steps away from the castle island.
It would be the same castle, but remixed, with beautiful crystal colors and lighting effects on the environment and new/existing enemies. More powerful shards and crafting drops, naturally, because of what kind of place you are in now. Things like walls and spikes of crystals would be in some spots needing new traversal abilities and equipment to get through (i.e. spike breaker, powerful anti-curse blessed war hammer D:), etc. They could reuse a couple of bosses with altered models and attacks due to the enhancements of the castle curse. We'll call it the Cursed Castle (tm). It seems to me like a good compromise on doing something new while also being able to re-use a lot of stuff in a very in-context, lore-friendly way. I feel like the inverted castle is a novelty that's been done, and doesn't really gain a lot from being repeated. I think this idea from purifyweirdsoul would be epic though. I also think that even if they made it so the castle became more covered with crystals as you progressed through the game it would be pretty cool.

I agree with Busterific, the inverted castle is a thing of the past... People would go "oh, it's just like CSOTN, couldn't they be more original? Hur hur" Indeed we need to go for something way different, if not unique (that said, full uniqueness is truly difficult now, as by now about all good ideas have been implemented in other games... and then accusations of plagiarism are so easy now. The theme of stained glass and memories (sharpness, vibrant colors, chaos, distortions and others) is something I once again approve of. Allow me to add a layer on this all: Miriam could traverse this to find her conclusion of the journey, as in going against both of her past and her curse, elments that have been tormented her heavily. She could then not only live as a normal young woman, but also finally get rid of these unwanted powers (free them?). Countless ones would do ANYTHING to obtain these abilities. I do believe that Miriam has to deal with them very unwillingly. It is crystal clear when she obtains a new one. She gets literally impaled... To trigger that final/special dungeon, I suggest either a spell (Gebel trying to convince her one last time to not get against the statu quo?) or an ancient artifact. This could be the root of it all. The final battle or then the hidden epilogue of her journey. Either is fine to me. Edit: Actually, it does sound almost like the conclusion of a certain game (no spoilers)... We should try to make it different, somehow. It is not easy for an ending (and I'd hate tear-jerker bittersweet ones too) Oh and chocolatestain this is a really good 'shop. I approve of it, but only if it's without the messed up CSOTN 2nd castle-style rotation. I think I'd sprinkle it all with lots of glass shards and crystals in the background (decoring elements, not traps)

Thanks Lestaroth. Iga and the team might just be scheming to do something more original than an inverted castle.
From Kickstarter Campaign FAQ May 2015:
I forgot how he worded it, but now I can see it could really mean anything. At the least they are cooking up the biggest castle ever and I wouldn't be disappointed.

Thank you and sorry if you really wanted an inverted castle.
I have loved CSOTN to bits, but Bloodstained also followed the kickstarter route because it has to be the spiritual successor yet not a clone of the series it takes roots from... I guess that some fans are disgruntled because of that. I half-understand this.
That said, it's a chance to turn a new leaf, to go forward. Master IGA is knowledgeable of this and I guess he didn't want to be explicit to keep fascination and mystery alive. Sadly it can easily turn into vagueness into the eyes of impatient people.
The story unfolds... Only the future can tell what's next. Unless you have divinatory powers.

Here is my take.. Update: More about this idea here. And when speaking of Dimensions, it can also be called Worlds or Realms. Stained Glass Realm and the Real Realm, or possibly Natural Realm, are all colorful, but with different set of color-palettes. Monsters might "stick out" if not done right, but thinking on how this could "Change" they way how to play Bloodstained in so many different layers, it could be something I really want to see in the game. Realms / Dimensions / Worlds- Finish the first Realm right, the adventures continue in the second Realm.
- Since everything is based on alternative dimensions and realms, worlds.. The timeline is disrupted, making each gameplay matter in a sense that she is actually in a Limbo, or a Purgatory. Rooms can be affected by this in sense of time, and "hell" have many writings telling about how slow it is moving in that "realm". Hell could actually be another realm, there could be so many realms.. And with many realms, many ways to introduce future Bloodstained games. Neverending castle since time does not exist per say.

Here is my take.. Wow, that looks pretty. And you know what? The sun rays make the brightness on those platform look fitting. Which was my complaint on the original. Sweet stuff.
