I want the shopkeeper to be a demon with no master and a cool backstory.

this one might need to be conveyed to iga, a lot of people are liking the idea of a demon shopkeep. I will message mana on the subject.

I'd think the shop would do well equipment wise to have items of low to average strength that you could buy before they become available elsewhere in the game. The idea of a few expensive items that are unique to the shop seems good as well.
I would also find it interesting if there were a hidden shop that you would need to perform an action before it becomes available. Kind of like dropping the garlic in the graveyards in Castlevania 2 to get items, but not necessarily something that would be required to finish the game.

I believe that was touched upon, in the that thread talking about Miriam's room... but I am not sure (and I am too lazy to look for it lol) but yeah a demon being a shopkeep would be awesome. Maybe... like a familiar that is too lazy to actually follow you but still wants to "serve" you in some way, so he opens up a shop for you.

(Silly Idea; not meant to be taken seriously...or will you?)
I want to be able to get certain unique items at the Shop just from literally throwing my real money at the screen/touchpad (depending on version). It should vary depending on whether paper cash, coinage, or credit cards make contact with the screen. :3
That's what I did when I first saw the Bloodstained Kickstarter page. I couldn't resist the strong urge to throw my wallet at the computer screen and demand that the campaign take my money.

In the interest of having more human characters/NPCs, I think I'd rather have one of them as a shopkeeper rather than a demon. That's just me, though.

funny, I was reading the wiki page today for the greek god pluto/hades. this god is the god of the underworld but also the god of wealth because of the great amount of resources contained within the earth itself, that is, what grows from under the ground and mines beneath the earth. this topic got me thinking, what if the shopkeeper is actually a defeated boss, sort of like defeating pluto to gain wealth. once the boss is defeated the player gains access to the shop. just a thought.

As for the most parts, I don't really care.. I think IGA will find the 42 for every problem.
But as for 2 and 5, I would prefer if the game was less random. For example I'm playing Megatagmension Nep and it has some really really reeeaaally annoying Random Stuff in it, which just kills all of the fun. So it would be nice, if the shop would offer some Stuff, which helps to gather all the Shards.. I believe there will be an Achievement for catching all of the Poke.. errr you know..
I wouldn't mind, if it would be an NG+ Item (Like the Ring in Aria of Sorrow, where you got infinite MP.. okay, maybe a bad example.. for this, it was neccessary to get 100% of all souls ^^).. however, it would be nice not to grind for hours for one of each kind and stuff.

why does everyone act like the shop should be useless...? in all the games other than sotn, they were the best place to stock up on healing items,
all of the games offered competing weapons, armor, and skills that were decently matched to the players current progression,
dos offered all the starter weapons so you can upgrade them with yoko,
por offered a lot of skills, and some decent gear,
ooe was very good as you did quests to get better things in the shop, balancing it so there were never enough potions/equipment to handle the vania lifestyle without finding gear in the environment, but wasn't overkill on being a weak shop.
sotn offered competing stat weapons at the time the player reaches the library, as well as decent gear, throwing weapons, and spell cheatsheets.
I hope my analysis sways you a bit or helps in some way.

1) WHO DO YOU WANT TO BE THE SHOPKEEPER? Johannes or a totally new character. I like the idea of one individual selling me items, not a whole bunch of entrepreneurs.
2) DO YOU THINK THE SHOP NEEDS TO SELL FORGING MATERIALS, OR THEY MUST BE KEPT AS DROPS, CHESTS AND HIDDEN AREAS? I don't want to be able to buy forging materials. It would just be a step away from buying a finished product, I would not enjoy buying items if they are supposed to be crafted.
3) IN-GAME SHOP MUST BE CONFINED ON A SINGLE PLACE AT THE CASTLE, OR THE SHOPKEEPER COULD BE A WANDERER, BEING FOUND AT FIXED AREAS AROUND THE CASTLE? I'm a traditionalist and like a stationary shop.
4) SINCE THE GAME HAVE A FORGING THEME, DO YOU THINK THAT THE SHOP MUST SELL WEAPONS, OR THOSE MUST BE EXCLUSIVE TO BE FOUND AND FORGED? Basic weapons, armours, trinkets, items should be sold at the shop, but not high quality gear. There needs to be a point for gold, so weapons are a great way to spend gold early on, maybe you won't have access to a forge until mid game.
5) DO YOU THINK THE SHOP NEEDS A ONE-KIND OVERPOWERED EXORBITANT COST ITEM? WHAT THAT ITEM COULD BE? Not needed, but certainly appreciated. I love having an item to strive for, something that isn't exactly easy to access. This early in the development I really couldn't venture a guess as what it should be, but like previous examples I feel it should be game changing.
