I seem to remember Iga's umbrella draw being a lot faster than that Katana animation. These test videos are never at the real game speed. They kinda said that already. It is always slowed down to show things better and also, you can clearly see a FPS count there, so, it is a test scenario. I'm not sure if you mean that the FPS counter being there denotes that it's merely a test, or the the FPS itself is relevant. FPS doesn't exactly cover the speed in which things happen. As an example here, the whip is shown at around 19~ fps while the greatsword is shown at around 28~ fps. The whip is much faster, however. Really what I mean is that in relation to the other weapons in the video which seem to all be at a decent speed, the katana is slower even though it's being compared directly to a speedy source (IGA). Maybe it's slower now just so they could get it to fit his movements more precisely, I don't know. I'm not exactly saying they should change, just relaying an observation.

Well it looks good but also the stance when the weapon is not in use but ready to draw also needs to be representative of the weapons equipped. You can't use this stance for every weapon. media.bestofmicro.com/Q/G/589336/original/bloodstained-061416.jpgThis is more suited for boots weapons. I liked most of the weapoons animations, I want to see their airborne versions. I think we've covered this in another thread as well and I still totally agree with you. The stance they're using right now just doesn't feel right as a neutral stance.

Why wouldn't it be apart of the crafting system? It seems like a no brainer. Enemies drop materials, materials can be crafted into all sorts of things including different ammo types. It doesn't need to be candles at all, it'll probably be the crafting system itself. I don't know, it depends on a few factors if that would be the best way to go or not. Is crafting always accessible? Do we have to make even standard, not-special ammo? That may be kind of a hassle or even put the player in a bind, but we don't know yet. Would otherwise need to be purchasable or drop.
I do like the notion of crafting for special ammo regardless, though.

That's actually one of the things I'm most shocked about them not addressing in an update. The crafting system, it's been so quiet in regards to that, that you could almost fear it was dropped. lol

I can almost bet you crafting is still in the dev phase getting tweaks made to it, they may have a couple test recipes ready to be inserted but to fully flesh out a crafting system you have to know what you are making AND know where the mats are coming from, as well as have the shop system in place to make the necessary item exchanges, which means drop rates, enemies, and items databases need to be in place (demo) as well as the transaction system for shops and crafting (not in the demo)
Itll be revealed, but theres a few things that i think are requisite before anything remotely final comes out on crafting

As Astaroth has mentioned, the crafting system still needs a lot of work. We do have a list of ingredients (items) necessary to craft, but the small bits needed to make the crafting system work will come much later. Words from the development team: Some folks here, Kickstarter, Facebook, and NeoGAF mentioned the animation is "tad slow" (since E3 demo). This is actually made on purpose. When players obtain more equipment and buff skills, Miriam's movement and attack speed will increase. We feel it's more invigorating this way but of course, we'll still tweak the motions. Personally, I would crack a whip all the time if we get some badass SFX in there. Looking at the design document, guns also have the potential to be really fun if we implement it correctly.

OMG Attack Speed buffs, that's a whole new concept to the series! I must imagine these could come from souls, equipment or from the new alchemy system, perhaps you can get crissaegrim lvs of attack speed with enough buffs... All aboard the hype train!!!

Two things:
1. I'm happy that crafting is still in.
2. The people who claimed the game is too slow I wonder if they've paid attention to IGAVANIA's at all because it's a perfect speed that replicates the very feel of all the games. Also, as a fan you'd know that upgrades come later that make your character faster in terms of relics. The lightning wolf relic? The soul abilities, the glyph abilities. You need a somewhat slower character ( even though it's not that slow) to contrast with the abilities you get later on.
That's just the IGAVANIA snob in me talking but that complaint felt bogus from the beginning, the game feels like Castlevania and that's what I want.

We need another demo to test how these animations control. I want to make sure that they feel responsive during the gameplay and not make it feel stiff.

Looking forward to it! I rely a lot on our little community for analysis and tech demonstrations, etc. I primarily game on console (shame upon my peasant taste!), with my "PC" being the laptop I bought for school and, needless to say, it cannot handle Bloodstained. So videos, guides etc. are how myself (and plenty of others here I'm sure) keep up with things not necessarily covered by the actual backer updates!
I might not be able to play the demo or beta, but watching the community members who can break it down and go into detail on the elements within is the next-best thing.

I prefer console gaming as well. I'm buying a PS4 almost exclusively for this game, though I do plan to purchase some other choice games, such as Final Fantasy XV, Fallout 4, and Kingdom Hearts III. :) Also did a quick post on the 'Level Grinding In The Demo' thread, if you were wondering. Suggestions for guides are more than welcome. :D

It would seem that someone's wish for Axes to be a weapon-type in this game has indeed come true. On the other hand, I personally love the fact that Spears will be a weapon-type in Bloodstained. I can't wait to skewer Miriam's enemies from mid-range! I am indeed very pleased to see that axes are confirmed. I also love spears, they were my other most-used weapon class in AoS and DoS, but I thought those were already known from the equip menu in the demo, so I didn't mention them. The animation does look very nice. I am surprised that the katana animation suggests it will be carried bare, rather than in a sheath. Sure, the other swords are also bare, but I would have thought that would have been something to distinguish the katana from the others. I imagine DoS is also a factor in my expectations, and someone mentioned iajutsu on one of the other threads a while back. The emphasis on weapons being one-handed or two-handed does suggest dual wielding, but I have a feeling that the second slot on the equipment screen was actually for selecting ammo, rather than a second weapon. I am actually looking forward to seeing what they do with the guns, but it would be easy for it to feel redundant or more complicated than necessary. I felt the same way about spells and sub-weapons in SotN. Too many systems without a clear purpose. I believe quick-switching equipment was officially mentioned at some point in the past, so I do wonder whether guns will be viable as a primary weapon, or if they'll be situational. What will the tradeoffs be between spells and guns?
