Bloodstained panel for MAGfest 2017

Again, this is a con on January 5-8 next year in National Harbor, MD, just outside of Alexandria, VA near the capitol. Their theme this year is obviously Castlevania! The opportunity for a panel just got that much more hype. Just look at their theme art lol.

Yeah, it was ridiculous how fast the rooms sold out. I'll be surprised if my panel is approved at this point, but it's a great fit for the con obviously - maybe if not me, someone/something more official will be there for it? Who knows? Maybe I can at least be there/be a part of it. Would be amazing if IGA could be there this time, as I was bothering basically everybody about last year lol.

It's time for my panel application. I could certainly use a laptop, lol. Maybe one of my friends could loan me one for this. Just need something to run a presentation off of...and hopefully get the A/V right.

I don't have one yet, but I'll be sure to send it to you once it's done...assuming this becomes a thing.

No word yet from them, should hear if I'm accepted or not some time this month though.

Pity; it would have been perfect for the theme of MAGFest this year. Oh well; at least the Bloodstained Fan group remains valid for the attendee badge listings.

Well, back from MAGfest. So...report:

There were a LOT of people, and a lot of people cosplaying a lot of different things. So, when I saw this huge poster near the entrance of the hotel...



...I figured well, I'm in the right place. Turns out...TWO total vampire hunters, me and a Richter at the Rondo panel...and that panel itself being only one of two Castlevania things to do, unfortunately. The MAGfest shirt/swag items were really cool though, which can all be seen here, along with some other interesting things:

crocodile and other fan art thread regulars, you'll notice that Bloodlines art croc just posted recently. The artist was there and had made Genesis display boxes for a few games. They unfortunately weren't for sale, though. Some other really cool things there. I always like those 3D sprite perlers and the pixel paintings (the FF1 one woaaah, that was $700 btw).

Anyways, so about the Rondo of Blood panel that GenericSoda was also at lol...it was basically..."this is why Rondo is best CV EVAR, come at me SotN punks". The latter part didn't really happen all that much. What did happen though is I hijacked it for like 2-3 minutes saying something like this:




I added some more emphatic statements/words here and there lol, and then right after Generic mentioned The Adventure ReBirth as a game that they had seemed to not know about when talking about Castlevania in the last 10 years.

After the panel, I had a couple of people tell me they were backers and one of them shook my hand. I did also mention that my own panel was rejected lol. Oh well...but, at least I was able to say something. The guy running the thing thanked me too, so he must not have been too bothered by my interjection.

Heh, thanks...and to be clear, what happened was I raised my hand and waited to be picked after the panel for questions/discussion. Not like I stood in front of the guy or anything, and it may not have even been a minute. I don't want it to seem like I myself am or am advocating the takeover of Castlevania things for Bloodstained lol, we don't want any sort of ill reputation for being pushy.

And about my panel not being approved specifically, like I said on Facebook, to their credit/from their perspective, I'm a random guy they don't know that hasn't hosted a panel before that wants to do one about a game that doesn't yet exist. It makes sense looking at it that way. Maybe next year, as that will be soon before the release, or even 2019 after it's had time to build up a fanbase after launch.

edit: Oh, and I should note, last year's theme was Metroid and similarly, there wasn't all that much Metroid stuff going on other than the themed appearance of things to do with the con/merchandise. From the 3 times I've been, that seems to be how it goes...though they were playing all of the Mega Man games in a marathon over the weekend for some reason instead of Castlevania. That didn't make much sense to me, lol.
