If they're going through the trouble of programming Bloodless to be playable... Why not just make her playable in the main game?

Starting off, as an "evil" character which work for Gebel (?), onboard a ship, killing her own minions, and her sister (!?) Vepar. To later on be greeted by NPCs talking to her like she is a savior.. No.. But if there was less to none lore or story behind it. Sure! Why not? It is however not possible in this structure of a game. They could maybe add her in other games.. Like fighting, or fan-made games.

If they're going through the trouble of programming Bloodless to be playable... Why not just make her playable in the main game? The problem with this, i believe, is the amout of resources needed to do such a thing. Only taking Bloodless as an example, the cheapest way to put her in the main game, would be to remove 100% of any plot-related event in the game, letting the map being nothing more than a huge playground (like extras in most Igavanias), but even so, you would need to create Bloodless with enough skills and abilites to traverse the whole map. Like, double jump / flying to reach higher places, some kind of gimmick to copy whatever skills and abilities Miriam needs to go around in the castle and such. IGA said that Directional Shards gave them lots of gimmicks to work with Miriam. If, for instance, Miriam has a Shard that lets her traverse the castle by swinging around, you would have to make the same thing for Bloodless or modify the map with plataforms and things like that, let breakable walls / locked doors and such, already open, among other modifications. They already need to do that to the extra playable characters that were promised, probably. A good example of this is all Extras in Portrait of Ruin having their sprite weirdly only physical at a tiny spot below their waist, in order to make them capable of going inside small areas where you needed to use Charlotte Frog spell, special mention going to Axe Armor that has a skill where he throws a blue doll and change positions with the doll whatever it lands, to traverse some areas. A skill that is a copy from a soul of Dawn of Sorrow and it doesn't match Axe Armor AT ALL and it's only there to make her go around the castle. Another good example is Order of Ecclesia where they had to modify the map for the extra character (Albus) by adding plataforms at some areas because he can't swing around like Shanoa can with Magnes Glyph. You either do that, or you copy/paste abilities of Miriam into the other characters. But if you do that, there isn't much of a difference between playing her and playing extras. Not only that, it would require playtesting her at the whole game to test if she is balanced (too strong or to weak) against all enemies and bosses. Doing that for all bosses on Revenge Boss woulds require this whole process for each one. I believe that is too many resources (time and money) spent just to add her / them to the main game.

Yeah... I have a feeling that, at this point, if Bloodless were to be made playable in the main game? She'd only end up as an "Extra/Bonus" character with no story-reasoning behind why you get to play as her. She likely wouldn't have special pause/inventory menus of her own either; just Pause the game (like almost all past 'bonus' characters).
I did have some ideas in a past thread as to how Bloodless could have full story involvement as one of the three playable characters, but... as of now; Leave her up to Boss Revenge Mode.

what i imagine this being is like just a huge slaughterfest. it seems like the opposite of a boss rush mode, which is 1 small character against giant boss after giant boss, you are basically an ANT against an army of GIANTS. boss REVENGE mode i feel should be the opposite. you are a huge beast crushing waves of puny humans. I look at Galamoth 's signature as i type this and imagine playing as him crushing tons of small alucards with my footsteps and mighty lightning mace. the bosses should be overpowered and the arenas will be covered in the blood of all who oppose you. I definitely dont see this as some kind of 'humanoid boss becomes a playable character' mode, there is literally already a mode for that, and multiple bonus characters are a given for a IGAvania. this is boss REVENGE mode, time to take out some anger and be a BOSS

But playing as enemies in the main game isn't anything new to igavanias. That fact in itself? Yeah, playing as enemies in the main game isn't new. Though, the only game other than Symphony of the Night I'm able to recall that allowed play as a normal enemy was Portrait of Ruin. Both of these games let you play as an "Old Axe Armor" after fulfilling certain conditions. Other than that, every Igavania [that allowed you to play as an enemy] only let you play as major enemy characters that had some important role in the story. Richter (1797; "Lord of the Castle"), Maxim Kischine, Joachim Armster, Stella & Loretta (turned by Brauner), and Albus (driven mad by the power of Dominus). I'm not necessarily counting Bloodless out yet, and I think there is potential for a certain normal enemy in Bloodstained (anyone remember the Shovel Armor?) to one day be playable as a bonus.

Without Joachim being imprisoned there by Walter (due to failing to wrest control of the Ebony Stone from him), and mentioning both the "Ebony Stone" and "Crimson Stone" upon defeat, Leon probably would never have learned more about them from Rinaldo.

Why would you need to play as an enemy in the main game? If there's a whole mode meant for it? Also, I'm not really following what you guys mean by playing as enemies in the main games of Castlevania's.... examples?

GalamothThose examples are extra modes though. Like I get that you can play as them through the main game but I feel some have way too lofty of expectations. Those games don’t have nearly the extra modes this one has. To ask for enemy bosses playing in a mode dedicated to them AND the main game is a bit much. Lol. You already have two extra playable characters for the main game.

Galamoth I've argued this before but I personally think there's TOO much extra modes. I think the game could have been better off with less modes and more time and money spent onto the in-game gameplay systems they didn't have time and money to add, or to improve the visuals even more.
